Patent number: 9102349Abstract: A steering system is provided with an uninterruptible mechanical positive coupling between a steering wheel and a pinion in the form of a steering shaft and with an electrical auxiliary power assistance, in which an electric motor introduces its assistance power into the steering system via a reduction gear mechanism. A switchable magnetic brake is provided, which in a closed switching state blocks the motor shaft of the electric motor frictionally in relation to a motor housing fixed to the vehicle body, and which in an open switching state releases the motor shaft so that this can rotate in a fixed transmission ratio with the steering shaft.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2012Date of Patent: August 11, 2015Assignee: ThyssenKrupp Presta AGInventors: Julian Sandholzer, Max Oertle

Publication number: 20090252908Abstract: A vehicle component is provided for a motor vehicle, such as an interior fitting part, and particularly for a component of a vehicle cockpit. The component has a hybrid structure that includes a metal part and a polymeric component. The metal part is surrounded by the polymeric component in a first region. The metal part has a second region which is free from the polymeric component. The second region is connected to a metal reinforcement. The polymeric component may comprise glass fibers. The first region of the metal part may be frame-shaped, and the second region may be arranged in a central region of the metal part. The metal reinforcement may be permanently secured to the metal part, such as by welding, or by an interference or form fit. The metal part may be surrounded by the polymeric component by injection molding and/or shaping.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 4, 2009Publication date: October 8, 2009Applicant: Johnson Control Technology CompanyInventors: Paul Angenheister, Thomas Beer, Alfred Mai, Klaus Kierspel, Norberto Silva, Jochen Zimmermann, Vikto Arbanas, Michael Maag, Carsten Mannek, Max Oertle, Christian Dornscheidt, Matthias Hein, Martin Hinz, Mark Hirt, Peter Seyfried, Markus Zornack

Patent number: 5358350Abstract: A device for connecting a steering column of a motor vehicle to a shaft journal of a steering mechanism. The device includes a U-shaped coupling member which is hinged to the steering column so as to be swingable about a transverse axis. The U-shaped coupling member has side walls which are provided with bores for receiving a tightening screw which is secured against rotation. A nut is mounted on the tightening screw. An auxiliary sheet metal piece is mounted on the inner side of a side wall of the coupling member. The auxiliary piece has a cutout which is in alignment with the bore in the side wall. The rim of the cutout has lugs which project into the bore of the side wall. Tongues are provided on both sides of the cutout. The tongues project toward the center plane of the U-shaped coupling member and toward the web of the coupling member connecting the side walls.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 1993Date of Patent: October 25, 1994Assignee: Etablissement SupervisInventor: Max Oertle
