  • Publication number: 20130184507
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the hydrogenation, in particular the selective hydrogenation of unsaturated hydrocarbon compounds using a hydrogenation catalyst comprising an ordered intermetallic compound. The ordered intermetallic compound comprises at least one metal of type A capable of activating hydrogen, and at least one metal of type B not capable of activating hydrogen, and the structure of the ordered intermetallic compound is such that at least one king of type A metals is mainly surrounded by atoms of the metal of type B. According to another aspect, the present invention is concerned with a catalyst comprising a support and the above ordered intermetallic compound supported on the support. According to still another aspect, the invention pertains to the use of a binary Pd—Ga ordered intermetallic compound as a catalyst. The hydrogenation process and catalysts of the present invention achieve a selectivity to the target compounds, e.g.

  • Publication number: 20130145957
Abstract: A pigment includes reservoirs of encapsulated corrosion inhibitors and/or biocides for active corrosion and/or antifouling protection of metallic and polymeric products and structures, wherein the reservoirs have average dimensions of 10-50000 nm and comprise a porous surface/interface, a porous or empty interior and stimuli-sensitive stoppers that release an encapsulated inhibitor or biocide outside the reservoir upon action of a stimulus selected from the group consisting of an external electromagnetic field, changes in local pH, ionic strength and ambient temperature, wherein the stimuli-sensitive stoppers result from a chemical or physical interaction between encapsulated corrosion inhibitor and/or biocide or encapsulated solvent/dispersing agent and an additional external compound and prevent release of an encapsulated inhibitor or biocide towards an exterior of the reservoir in the absence of the stimulus.

  • Publication number: 20130037729
Abstract: For determining the distribution of a substance, a measuring front is formed of a first and a second optical signal. Intensities of the first and second optical signals, over a depth of the measuring front which is smaller than the diffraction limit at the wavelengths of the first and second optical signals, increase so steeply that a portion of the substance in a measurement state in which a measurement signal is available from the substance increases from essentially zero due to transferring the substance by means of the first optical signal into the measurement state, and decreases to essentially zero again due to transferring the substance by means of the second optical signal back out of the measurement state. The measuring front is moved over a measurement region. The measurement signal is recorded for different positions of the measuring front in the measurement region and assigned to these positions.
