  • Patent number: 11451692
Abstract: Systems and methods for secure video devices are provided. A video device includes a privacy module that can be automatically or manually activated to obscure the field of view of the video device. The video device also includes a visual indicator for indicating when the camera has been activated, in order to alert individuals within view of the camera that the camera is active. The system can automatically detect when a privacy breach occurs (e.g., if an unauthorized user gains access to the camera) and can automatically activate the privacy module in response to the detected privacy breach in order to obscure the field of view of the camera and maintain the privacy of individuals within the field of view of the camera.

  • Patent number: 10509298
Abstract: An optical device, such as a camera, with an electrochromic lens cap is disclosed. The electrochromic lens cap is electrically switchable and thermally erasable and can reversibly and visibly change from an opaque state to a highly transparent state when a charge is applied to it. A power source such as a battery or photovoltaic cell can supply the charge. In addition, the electrochromic lens cap can reversibly change from an opaque state to a highly transparent state when there is a temperature change in the electrochromic lens cap's environment. The optical device has an actuator and/or transceiver that can communicate with a remote device to control when and how the charge is applied to the electrochromic lens cap to change it to the opaque state, color, pattern, or other feature. Another feature of this invention is using the electrochromic lens cap as a neutral-density filter for an optical device.

  • Patent number: 10426050
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a home security device assembly for mailing by direct mail package. The home security device assembly includes a first panel. The first panel is characterized by rectangular shape. The first panel includes a ledge extending from a first side of the first panel. The first panel includes a hollow circular tapered intrusion. The home security device assembly includes a second panel. The second panel is characterized by rectangular shape. Dimensions of rectangular shape of the second panel are identical to corresponding dimensions of rectangular shape of the first panel. The second panel includes a continuous ledge extending from three sides of the second panel. The home security device assembly includes an electrical components sub-assembly. The substantially cuboidal housing encapsulates a first section of the electrical component sub-assembly. The electrical component sub-assembly includes at least one sensor.

  • Publication number: 20170102606
Abstract: This invention relates to a device comprised of at least two interchangeable modules, wherein at least one module has a power source and/or data storage unit and can transmit power and/or data to all of the electrically and mechanically mated modules. The device is designed for use in extreme weather environments, such as but not limited to, snow, rain, at elevation, and/or under pressure. In addition, each mating point between the at least two modules is waterproof. In a preferred embodiment, the device is comprised of a first module that is an optical head, with at least two optical lenses and can sense and capture image data. A second module is a handle comprised of a battery. When the first and second modules are electrically and mechanically mated, the two modules are secure and waterproof and the device operates as a 360° optical camera with an interchangeable power handle module.

  • Publication number: 20160363806
Abstract: This invention relates to a carrying case with at least one electrochromic panel that can reversibly change from an opaque “off-state” to a highly transparent “on-state” when a button, dial, switch, snap, voice command, remote device, toggle, proximity sensor, other pocket, pouch, or flap on the carrying case, temperature sensor, or any other type of actuator that applies a charge to the electrochromic panel is activated. The electrochromic panel can be on any facet of the carrying case or multiple electrochromic panels can layer on top of each other to create various effects. Each electrochromic panel can have varying properties including, but not limited to, unique textures, transparency when voltages are applied, polarizations, colors, densities, finishes, and/or holographic displays. The electrochromic panel can be used on various appliances, furniture, devices, and/or over optical lenses to prevent an unauthorized remote user from viewing scenes through the optical lens.
