  • Patent number: 6993553
Abstract: A data providing system including a data providing apparatus having a provision image data generating device for generating data of a provision image that is reusable by inlaying an advertisement image into a template image into which a user image is inlaid and a providing-side transmitting device for transmitting the provision image data via a network. A data acquisition apparatus has an acquiring-side receiving device for receiving the provision image data via the network, a transmission image data generating device for generating data of a transmission image for displaying the provision image onto a display device, inlaying the user image into the template image of the provision image, and displaying the user image with the template image in preference to the advertisement image until the user image is detached from the template image, and a acquiring-side transmitting device for transmitting the transmission image data to a destination.

  • Patent number: 6356309
Abstract: Video data coded in a coding device 12 is temporarily stored in a temporary buffer 13 before transmitted to a transmission buffer 171. A frame dropping/quantization control device 16 cancels the video data in the temporary buffer 13 if the amount of information of the video frame stored in the temporary buffer 13 is larger than a predetermined threshold, and further, sets a quantization step size with a quantization step size larger than the quantization step size used to code the video frame stored in the temporary buffer 13 and outputs it to the coding device 12.

  • Patent number: 6233251
Abstract: A multiplex frame is of a fixed length and includes a header and a fixed-length field. The fixed-length field is divided into variable-length slots 1 and 2. The length of the variable-length slot 1 is a predetermined fixed length when data to be stored exists and is zero with no data to be stored. The length of the variable-length slot 2 is increased/decreased depending on the length of the variable-length slot 1. Fixed-length data not employing retransmission (e.g., an audio frame) is transmitted in the first variable-length slot and one complete variable-length data employing retransmission (e.g., a data link frame of video) is transmitted in the second variable-length slot.

  • Patent number: 5680322
Abstract: A Method and apparatus for the transmission of dynamic image data which performs retransmissions when an error occurs in teh transmitted data. A transmitting side codes inputted dynamic image data and further error-correcting or detecting codes the data, and then transmits the data to a receiving side. The receiving side corrects or detects errors in the received image code bit string and makes a determination as to whether there exists any uncorrectable errors. If there is an uncorrectable error, it makes a determination as to whether the effect of the error on the picture or image quality is larger or smaller than a predetermined criterion. If it determines it is larger, it transmits a retransmission request to the transmitting side, and if smaller, it does not transmit a retransmission request. When transmitting dynamic image data coded by the MPEG format, transmission is made with B pictures thinned out based upon a transmission rate.
