  • Patent number: 5222916
Abstract: A speed-variating means especially for a bike includes an eccentric wheel rotatably driven by a dringing wheel such as a chain wheel of a bike, the eccentric wheel having its first side portion coupled with a rotating disk rotatably mounted on an axle and connected with a hub and an output wheel such as a bike rear wheel and having a second side portion of the eccentric wheel rotatably held in a stationary disk secured to a retaining bowl fixed on the axle of the output wheel, and a variable speed adjusting device operatively moving the eccentric wheel to cling a center of the eccentric wheel with an axis of the axle, or eccentrically moving the eccentric wheel to and from the axis, so that a broader speed variation ratio can be effected by comparing a smaller eccentric radius of the eccentric wheel (wheel center) about the axle axis with a larger eccentric radius of the eccentric wheel about the axle axis.

  • Patent number: 5127883
Abstract: A speed-variating device especially for a bike includes a first disk secured to a chain wheel having an integral gear formed on a cylindrical flange thereof, a second disk having at least a planet pinion pivotally formed annularly on the second disk engageable with the internal gear, a central eccentric wheel carrying either disk eccentrically about an axle of a bike wheel, a sun gear rotatably mounted on the axle engageable with the planet pinion and having a ratchet gear forwardly driving the bike wheel for forwardly running of the bike, so that a homogeneous wide speed variation can be effected by a first speed variation from the first disk to the eccentric wheel and a second speed variation from the eccentric wheel to the second disk and by a further speed variation by a planetary gear train comprised of the internal gear, the planet pinion and the sun gear for a wider speed variation.

  • Patent number: 4892506
Abstract: A speed-variating means for bicycle or the like includes a sliding roller carrier means sandwiched between two driving disks of which one driving disk is rotatably coupled with a hub of a bike wheel and the other driving disk is secured with a chain wheel, each driving disk being provided with radial slots engageable with a plurality of sliding rollers of the roller carrier means, whereby a driving of a bike chain, a first speed variating ratio can be effected between the chain-wheel-secured driving disk and the sandwiched roller carrier means and a second speed variating ratio can be effected between the hub-coupled driving disk and the sandwiched roller carrier means, thereby obtaining a synergetic speed-variating effect by multiplying the first and the second speed variating ratio by means of such a compact mechanism of the sandwiched roller carrier means.

  • Patent number: 4889354
Abstract: A variable speed adjuster for a bicycle includes: a driving disk secured to a bike hub or spokes having a plurality of radial slots formed in the driving disk, a collar secured with a chain wheel driven by a driving chain of a bike pedal having a plurality of sliding blocks slidably engaged in an annular groove formed in the collar each sliding block formed with a sliding roller protruding inwardly to slidably engage each radial slot in the driving disk and an eccentric plate rotatably secured with the collar and fixed on the axle of a bike wheel, wherein the eccentric plate is adjustably biased to allow the collar and the chain wheel to be eccentric to the axle, thereby resulting in a variation of drive ratio of running speed of a bike wheel.

  • Patent number: 4549874
Abstract: An automatic speed variating means for bicycle includes a pedal having a driving rod, a speed controller having a magnetic actuator driven by the bicycle wheel and a driving chain driven by the driving rod wherein the depression of the pedal may drive the chain for normal bicycle running and the faster bicycle running may operate the magnetic actuator to exert a greater torque to automatically adjust the speed controller for faster speed variation.
