Abstract: Systems and methods to select peered border elements for a communication session based on Quality-of-Service (QoS) are disclosed. In particular, an example method includes determining a composite QoS parameter of a communication session based on weighting QoS parameters of the session, the QoS parameters including a grade of service parameter of the session and a preferred mode of communication for a voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) device of a called party; querying a telephone number mapping server for a status of each of the peered border elements; assigning the session to be handled by a selected peered border element of the peered border elements based on the composite QoS parameter and the status of each of the peered border elements; and generating a QoS authorization token to reserve network resources associated with the selected peered border element.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for communicating information about transcription progress from a unified messaging (UM) server to a UM client. In one embodiment, the transcription progress describes speech to text transcription of speech messages such as voicemail. The UM server authenticates and establishes a session with a UM client, then receives a get message list request from a UM client as of a first time, responds to the get message list request with a view of a state of messages and available transcriptions for transcribable messages in a list of messages associated with the get message list call at the first time, and, at a second time subsequent to the first time, transmits to the UM client a notification that provides an indication of progress for at least one transcription not yet complete in the list of messages. The messages can include video.

Abstract: A system and method of communication in an IMS network is disclosed. An apparatus that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a call processing server having a controller element that receives from a terminal device a calling ID for establishing communications with a called party, submits to a telephone number mapping (ENUM) server a query corresponding to the calling ID, receives from the ENUM server a plurality of communication identifiers retrieved from a Naming Authority Pointer record according to a grade of service (GoS) of the called party, and selects according to the GoS of the called party a communication identifier from the plurality of communication identifiers to establish communications with the called party. Abstract: An automatic message escalation system includes attaching an acknowledgement flag to a message after it is received in the message mailbox of an identified message recipient. The status of the acknowledgement flag indicates whether or not the message has been retrieved. After a given or specified period of time, the acknowledgement flag is checked to see if the message was retrieved. If the message was retrieved, the message will not be escalated. If the message was not retrieved, the message will be sent to the next message recipient on an escalation list.

Abstract: A system and method of delivering ringback audio content are disclosed. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving a connection request at an originating serving call session control function (S-CSCF) network element. The connection request indicates that a caller device has placed a call to a destination device associated with a ringback audio content service subscriber. The method also includes receiving a plurality of naming authority pointer (NAPTR) records at the originating S-CSCF network element from a telephone number mapping (ENUM) server. The NAPTR records include a plurality of ringback audio uniform resource indicators (URIs) associated with the destination device. The method also includes modifying the connection request to include the plurality of ringback audio URIs.

Abstract: A method and system for managing messages in a unified messaging (UM) platform to enable message recall is disclosed. The UM platform deposits a message from a sender into a UM mailbox of a recipient. It is then determined whether the sender of the message is a UM subscriber. If the sender is a UM subscriber, a copy of the message or a link to the message is deposited into a UM mailbox of the sender. The UM platform then provides a message recall option with the copy of the message or the link to the message in the UM mailbox of the sender. If the sender is not a UM subscriber, a recall message including a randomly generated message recall URL is sent to the sender. This allows the sender to select the randomly generated message recall URL to send a message recall request to the UM platform.

Abstract: A method and system for automatically defining and provisioning organizational data in a unified messaging (UM) platform are disclosed. An adapter in a unified messaging platform connects to at least one client human resources database. Human resources information that is organized in an organizational hierarchy is retrieved from the human resources database, and hierarchical organizational data is automatically generated in the UM platform based on the organizational hierarchy of the human resources information retrieved from the human resources database. UM mailboxes are provisioned to messaging centers in the UM platform based on the hierarchical organizational data.

An example method includes, in response to receiving an internet protocol multimedia subsystem session initiation message from a user endpoint, determining whether the user endpoint is registered; and, when the user endpoint is determined to be unregistered: determining whether the internet protocol multimedia subsystem session initiation message is directed to an exception endpoint by performing a lookup on a list; determining whether a profile for the unregistered user endpoint is available; when the profile for the user endpoint determined to be unregistered is unavailable, loading a default profile; and establishing an internet protocol multimedia subsystem session on behalf of the user endpoint determined to be unregistered when the internet protocol multimedia subsystem session initiation message is directed to the exception endpoint.
