  • Patent number: 9755318
Abstract: A reflector assembly includes a frame centered about a longitudinal axis and having a first height along the axis. A curved body extends from the frame and has a second height along the longitudinal axis could be greater than the first height. A stretchable membrane has an electromagnetically reflective surface and is secured to the curved body.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 9, 2014
Date of Patent: September 5, 2017
    Assignee: Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation
Inventors: Mehran Mobrem, Geoffrey W. Marks
  • Patent number: 9484636
Abstract: A reflector assembly includes a frame centered about a longitudinal axis, a first curved body extending from the frame, and a second curved body extending from the frame and connected to the first curved body for supporting the first curved body. A reflective mesh has an electromagnetically reflective surface and a support structure secures the reflective mesh to the first curved body and spaces the reflective mesh away from the first body towards the second body.

  • Publication number: 20090133355
Abstract: A deployable structure (10) includes at least two membranes (20) arranged overlying each other and spaced apart from each other. A deployable perimeter truss structure (40) encircles the at least two membranes (20). A transition truss structure (80) connects the membranes (20) to the perimeter truss structure (40). The perimeter truss structure (40), transition truss structure (80), and membranes (20) form a pre-loaded truss structure in which the membranes comprise integral tension transmitting components of the tensioned truss structure.

  • Publication number: 20080111031
Abstract: A truss structure for supporting a membrane that is to be deployed in space, where the truss structure maintains the membrane sufficiently flat with uniform tension. The truss structure includes a circular perimeter truss and a transitional truss. The transitional truss includes a series of ties that are coupled to the perimeter truss and the membrane. When the truss structure is deployed, telescopic parts of the perimeter truss that are stowed in expansion cause the transitional truss to expand and pull the membrane into the flat configuration.
