Patent number: 11971130Abstract: Support systems and stands for electronic devices include tilt hinges, lift arms, and their component parts. Some tilt hinges include assemblies for guiding and retaining bars or protrusions into preferred positioning within receiver openings to unify the parts, particularly as they move, and to reduce wobble or slop in the joints. Lift arms provide simplified and low-cost guidance and counterbalance mechanisms for controlling movement of the electronic device relative to the base of a stand. In some cases, the lift arms have sheaths to help protect or cover mechanisms while allowing additional space for the mechanisms within the lift arm. Other interconnection systems hide and protect a connector interface between the stand and the electronic device within a housing until unlocked and the connector is moved into an exposed position. These systems improve efficiency, comfort, ergonomics, accessibility, and user satisfaction of the electronic devices and their supports.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 2022Date of Patent: April 30, 2024Assignee: APPLE INC.Inventors: Brett W. Patent number: 11853129Abstract: This application relates to a portable electronic device. The portable electronic device includes a housing including (i) a lower case, and (ii) an upper case pivotally coupled to the lower case with a hinge assembly. The housing includes a processor capable of providing instructions, an operational component in communication with the processor, where the processor is capable of executing a function, and a magnetic detection system included within the hinge assembly. The magnetic detection system includes a magnetic element capable of generating a magnetic field, and a magnetic sensor capable of determining an angle between the lower case and the upper case based on the magnetic field, where when the processor determines that the angle between the lower case and the upper case satisfies a predetermined threshold angle, the processor provides the instructions to the operational component to execute the function.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 2019Date of Patent: December 26, 2023Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Mehrdad Hooshmand, John C. Patent number: 11506588Abstract: A portable air quality monitoring device is disclosed that can identify the type of particles in the air. This device takes images of particles in the air and compares them with a library of particles in its memory to identify the type of particles. The device has a housing that draws ambient air into the system and takes microscopic images of the flowing particles and droplets using flash photography. The device can be stand alone or can connect to the back of a mobile phone and use the mobile phone camera and light. People can upload their local air quality data online for all to see the local air quality.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 2022Date of Patent: November 22, 2022Inventors: Mostafa Abdollahi, Farzam Keshavarzi, Mehrdad Hooshmand, Hossein Varmazyar, Mojtaba Falahatinezhad
