  • Patent number: 6416654
Abstract: Nitrogenous compounds especially bases such as ammonia vapor are used to control the operation of a hydrocracker or catalytic dewaxer. Catalyst activity and selectivity may be controlled by addition of the base to the feed, for example, to control the balance between isomerization and hydrocracking in an operation using a zeolite beta catalyst. Runaway conditions may be controlled by the addition of nitrogenous compounds to regulate the temperature profile within the reactor.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 30, 1994
Date of Patent: July 9, 2002
    Assignee: Mobil Oil Corporation
Inventors: Tai-Sheng Chou, Nai Yuen Chen, Grant G. Karsner, Clinton R. Kennedy, Rene B. LaPierre, Melcon G. Melconian, Richard J. Quann, Stephen S. Wong

  • Patent number: 5100535
Abstract: Nitrogenous compounds especially bases such as amines are used to control the operation of a hydrocracker. Catalyst activity and selectivity may be controlled by addition of the base to the feed, for example, to control the balance between isomerization and conversion in an operation using a zeolite beta catalyst. Runaway conditions may be controlled by the addition of nitrogenous compounds and if they are added at intermediate points along the length of the reactor, the temperature profile within the reactor can be effectively regulated.

  • Patent number: 5019663
Abstract: The endothermic heat of reaction for zeolite-catalyzed paraffin aromatization is provided by a co-fed oxygenate stream. Advantageously, the addition of a dehydrogenation metal to the zeolite reduces the reaction temperature for paraffin aromatization to a range suitable for the exothermic conversion of an oxygenate to C.sub.5 + gasoline. Preferred paraffinic feedstreams include C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 LGP and the preferred oxygenate is methanol.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: May 28, 1991
    Assignee: Mobil Oil Corp.
Inventors: Tai-Sheng Chou, Melcon G. Melconian
  • Patent number: 4406777
Abstract: A catalytic conversion process wherein a slowly deactivating catalyst contained in a multiplicity of fixed bed is operated in a serial fashion whereby the operating temperature of each catalyst bed is higher than the preceeding bed and the last catalyst bed in the series is removed from operation when a predetermined operating temperature is reached, the catalyst in the removed bed is reactivated or replaced and the reactivated or fresh bed is returned to service as the first bed in the series of fixed catalyst beds.
