More specifically, the invention relates to a petunia plant having an allele which results in a petunia plant with altered flower color and/or altered flower color pattern. The invention also relates to crossing petunia plants containing the allele with petunia or Calibrachoa plants lacking the allele to produce novel types of petunia and Calibrachoa-petunia inter-generic hybrid plants.
