Publication number: 20190155655Abstract: A resource allocation method and a resource manager in a multi-CPU system are provided. The resource manager divides resources in the system into one global resource pool and at least two local resource pools, where the local resource pools are in a one-to-one correspondence with CPUs. The resource manager receives a resource application request sent by a first CPU; determines a current mode of the global resource pool; and when the global resource pool is in a centralized mode, allocates a resource to the first CPU from the global resource pool. When there is a shortage of resources, the resource manager gathers, in the global resource pool, allocatable resources in the system. In this way, when CPUs request resources, the resource manager can allocate resources all from the global resource pool, so as to improve system resource utilization efficiency.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 25, 2019Publication date: May 23, 2019Inventors: Ruibin Sha, Meng Gao

Patent number: 10198189Abstract: An allocation instruction is received that includes a target data operand and a storage medium operand indicating a storage medium for storing the target data. A data dependency is identified that specifies metadata that includes access control information specifying which users have permission to perform a write operation to the file that includes the target data. In response to determining that the allocation instruction allocates the target data from a first storage medium to a second storage medium having a faster data IO rate, the allocation instruction is modified to also allocate the metadata specified in the data dependency to the second storage medium. In another aspect, the allocation instruction is modified to also allocate the metadata identified in the data dependencies to one or more storage mediums with data IO rates that are at least as fast as the second storage medium.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2016Date of Patent: February 5, 2019Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Meng Gao, Yang Liu, Mei Mei, Jie Ping Wu

Patent number: 9528494Abstract: A method and a system for operating a wind turbine (10) during a fault. The system includes a pitch motor for rotating each rotor blade (18), second pitch sensors (72) for determining when the rotor blade (18) is rotated to a set point, and a backup pitch controller (80). After a fault is detected, the method determines whether the wind speed in the vicinity of the wind turbine (10) is less than or greater than or equal to a maximum rated velocity of the wind turbine (10). The backup pitch controller (80) then rotates the rotor blades (18) to a specific set point based on the determination.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 2010Date of Patent: December 27, 2016Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Meng Gao, Cheng Ma
