  • Publication number: 20040201572
Abstract: A controlling device for a mouse includes an input module, a switching module and a micro-controller module. First, the input module generates input signals from the input, that is, when the mouse is moved by a user, the switching module determines the current controlling state of the mouse to be operating in the XY-axes direction or the Z-axis direction, allowing the micro-controller module to activate the mouse operation from the XY-axes direction to the Z-axis direction, so as to make the mouse scroll data shown on the screen upwardly or downwardly according to the moving direction of the mouse being manipulated. In condition of no increase in assembling members and requirement of a third pair of encoders, specific driving programs or programmable integrated circuit structures, the application of a conventional mouse micro-controller and a switch is effective to proceed the scrolling operation of the mouse.

  • Publication number: 20020044135
Abstract: A positioning mechanism cooperative with a track ball in a mouse used for an electronic device is proposed, in which a positioning element retained in a housing is capable of being rotated by 360 degrees, and constantly in contact with the track ball by a resilient force provided from a resilient element. The positioning mechanism is advantageous of having the position element able to be perfectly cooperative with the movement of the track ball in the mouse, so that the flexibility in operation and accuracy in positioning of the track ball are both significantly improved.

  • Publication number: 20010050674
Abstract: An improvement for computer mouse device includes a housing which has a bottom surface, a top surface, a first side surface, a second side surface, at least one button and a tracking device. A fillister shape is formed on the top surface and capable of accommodating at least one human figure, so that user's index finger may be rested on the fillister shape to move the mouse around for controlling curser motion and has the index finger tip drop vertically downward to press the button for selecting and excuting computer commands. The mouse is thus much more ergonomically designed and shaped to reduce muscle and nerve stress from undue jesture for fingers, palm and wrist. User may operate the mouse for a long period of time of reduced traditional stress and fatiuge or other harmful effect.

  • Publication number: 20010006381
Abstract: A finger-scale mouse casing structure is proposed, which allows the user to hold and move the mouse in a more effortless manner than the prior art, and also allows the overall mouse size to be made more compact than the prior art. This finger-scale mouse casing structure comprises: a base part for accommodating a movement-detection circuit; a first sidewall which is substantially upright erected on a first lateral side of the base part; a second sidewall which is substantially upright erected on a second lateral side of the base part; and a set of buttons disposed on the base part. With this finger-scale mouse casing structure, the user can hold and move the mouse simply by moving his/her thumb and fingers, without having to turn his/er wrist and elbow, thus preventing the Carpal tunnel syndrome.

  • Patent number: 6034627
Abstract: A computer input device comprising: a housing, a tracking ball, at least a button and a through hole formed on the housing. The housing has a bottom surface, a top surface, a first side surface and a second side surface. The tracking ball is partially held within the housing while having part thereof exposed outside the housing through a bottom opening formed on the bottom surface. The hole is formed on a front portion of the top surface and has a size capable to accommodate a human's index finger such that the housing can be controlled and moved easily and readily by the finger accommodated in the hole. Since the housing can be moved and operated by using fingers merely without adapting to the size and shape of a human's palm, therefore the volume and size of the computer input device in accordance with the present invention can be reduced.
