  • Patent number: 8424513
Abstract: A method for the production of an absorber plate for solar collectors from a strip of metal, in particular of aluminum or an aluminum alloy, includes coating the strip using a coil coating process with a highly selective coating, which has very good absorptive properties for sunlight and ensures very little heat emission.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 24, 2007
Date of Patent: April 23, 2013
    Assignee: Hydro Aluminium Deutchland GmbH

  • Publication number: 20130064981
Abstract: Method for making an absorber coating for solar heating and a coating as such to be applied on a metal substrate, in particular a coating to be applied on a thin aluminium metal sheet. The coating is of the sol-gel type based on a metal oxide precursor where pigment particles are intimately mixed into the precursor followed by application of the mixed sol lacquer on the substrate and thereafter reaction in humid air at a required temperature to obtain the sol-gel coating. The precursor may preferably be a CeO2 (NO3) based sol with preferably 20% CeO2 having a particle size of 10-20 nm and a pH of 1.5. Further the pigment may be a manganese ferrite black spinel, Mn3Cu2FeO8.

  • Publication number: 20080086973
Abstract: Structural metal element for door-, window or the similar applications with improved thermal properties, having at least one interior surface, one exterior surface and one internal surface, where at least one surface of the element have improved optical properties by means of a surface treatment or coating. The surface in accordance with the invention has improved thermal emissivity and/or solar reflectance. Further, the invention also relates to a method of making the structural element, treated in a preferred manner or with preferred coatings.

  • Publication number: 20070251420
Abstract: A powder coating composition comprising an intimate mixture of at least one thermoplastic and/or thermosetting resin binder and optionally, at least one crosslinking agent and constituents conventional in powder coating compositions, such as, pigments, fillers and additives, comprising aluminum particles having a D50 in a range of 8 to 20 ?m whereby the aluminum particles are treated with compounds selected from the group consisting of silica, (meth)acrylic polymers, polyesters and wax; the powder coating composition provides coatings with a value of thermal emissivity in a range of 0.4 to 0.55 with total solar reflectance values in a range of 60 to 70% in the infrared (IR) and/or near IR (NIR) wavelength region of 0.3 to 2.5 ?m, to minimize the heat transportation through a substrate coated by the powder coating composition, e.g., from a warm building to a colder environment.

  • Publication number: 20020124616
Abstract: This invention pertains to a method for producing a semi-product for lighting purposes. The semi-product is produced by forming fields or stripes on a substrate, and then shaping the substrate into a configuration. The fields or stripes exhibit different lighting and/or aesthetic properties.

  • Patent number: 6428682
Abstract: A process for removing or reducing the directionality or anisotropy of a surface and for making the surface specular on a substrate material consisting of aluminium or an aluminium alloy, by (a) chemically etching the substrate material, (b) subjecting the etched substrate material substrate material to electrochemical polishing by using a solution, and (c) subjecting the substrate material to additional chemical etching and electrochemical polishing directly after step (b), wherein the surface of the substrate material is not exposed to air between the etching and the electrochemical polishing.
