Mette Strand has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Patent number: 5219566
Abstract: Polypeptide epitopes are defined herein which when used as components of vaccine compositions, induced partial immunity to Schistosoma mansoni. The epitopes are found on the surface of schistosumula. The epitopes are part of larger proteins which are immunologically cross-reactive with myosin heavy chains from other species. However, anti-myosin antibodies directed against myosin molecules of other species are not cross-reactive with the surface epitopes of S. mansoni.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 9, 1991
Date of Patent: June 15, 1993
    Assignee: The Johns Hopkins University

  • Patent number: 4530908
Abstract: Antibodies and antigens are disclosed which provide a method of detecting and a method of combating flukes. A diagnostic method for the determination of an active fluke infection in a warm-blooded animal is provided which comprises the testing of body serum or body fluids for the presence of fluke spine glycoprotein or anti-spine antibodies. Fused cell hybrids ATCC HB-8086, ATCC HB-8087 and ATCC HB-8088, as well as the antibodies produced by the fused cell hybrids, are also provided.

  • Patent number: 4472509
Abstract: Methods of manufacturing and purifying metal chelate conjugated monoclonal antibodies are described. The chelated metal may be one which emits alpha, beta or gamma radiation, or positrons. Alternatively, the metal can be one which is fluorogenic or paramagnetic. The conjugates are suited for diagnostic and therapeutic uses.

Inventors: Otto A. Gansow, Mette Strand
  • Patent number: 4454106
Abstract: Therapeutic and diagnostic methods employing metal chelate conjugated monoclonal antibodies are described. Metals employed in therapeutic conjugated antibodies include alpha particle, beta particle or Auger electron emitting isotopes. Diagnostic methods may be either in vivo or in vitro. Chelated metals employed in diagnostic techniques may include, inter alia, gamma or positron emitting metals as well as fluorogenic or paramagnetic metals.

  • Patent number: 4416866
Abstract: Antibodies and antigens are disclosed which provide a method of detecting and a method of combating flukes. Fluke infections are screened by determining presence of fluke antigens defined by antibodies produced by hybridomas ATCC HB-8086 and HB-8087. Chronic and acute fluke infections are distinguished by determining presence of fluke spine protein. Fluke infections are combated by injecting warm-blooded animals with antibodies produced by hybridomas ATCC HB-8086, HB-8087 and HB-8088, or with proteins defined by those antibodies.
