  • Patent number: 4980217
Abstract: The reinforcing fibers in a printed circuit board laminate are arranged in an ordered manner to leave fiber-free zones for the formation of holes. The holes may be oblong to enhance the connection to electrical leads of components mounted on the printed circuit board. The holes may be oriented with their long dimensions transverse to the side of an electrical component, and the electrical component may have its leads correspondingly oriented, to improve wiring flexibility and allow more direct wiring paths.

  • Patent number: 4411063
Abstract: A tool for simultaneously gripping and positioning a hollow crimping sleeve adjacent a crimping means and retaining two elongate electrical conductors with their bared ends within such hollow sleeve to allow the crimping of such sleeve and conductor ends into a mechanical and electrical joint. A base contains a central sleeve support covered by two separately operable arms, each of which contains a partial sleeve support and cable retaining means. With the sleeve fully supported and the cable positions fixed, the centrally located crimping means is activated by hammering the crimping means or tightening a fastener on a threaded stud.

  • Patent number: 4348548
Abstract: An insulator for covering an electric cable has circular recesses for receiving any portions of a connector which extend beyond a surface of the cable covered by the insulator. If the connector extends between overlapping portions of a pair of cables, the connector and the overlapping portions of the cables can be completely enveloped by sandwiching them between a pair of insulators. The diameter of each recess is chosen so as to closely accommodate the extending portions of its associated connector and to provide a substantial barrier of insulation about the connector out to the edges of the cables being joined to prevent moisture, dirt and other contaminents from reaching the connector and causing its degradation or shorting.

  • Patent number: 4280279
Abstract: A tool for selectively aligning the conductors of a first multiconductor flat cable with selected conductors of a second multiconductor flat cable comprising a base plate having handle means to position the tool with respect to said cables, a first stop means to engage a first edge of the first cable and position same with respect to said base plate and second stop means to engage a first edge of a second cable and position such cable with respect to said base plate and in orthogonal overlapping relationship to said first cable aligning selected conductors of each cable. Edge guides align the cable edges on the base plate and guide pins provide mating contact with associated apertures in insulation means to align the insulation with the overlapping portions of both cables.

  • Patent number: 4266419
Abstract: A preferably circular cam driver coupled to one of a pair of pivotally coupled die carrying members and operated by drive means is cooperatively engaged with a cam member coupled to the other of the pair of die carrying members and which, in turn, is rotated by and exerts a force upon the cam driver to selectively move the work engaging portions of the die carrying members into engagement with a workpiece located therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4258974
Abstract: An installation kit for wiring systems includes flat multiconductor cable, insulation piercing connectors for electrically joining cable conductors and insulator-spacer elements, for disposition overlying a cable and insulatively spacing the connectors from the cable shield. The cable shield is in displaceable overlying relation to the cable conductors to permit installation of connectors and spacers and remains electrically connected to the cable ground conductor.
