  • Publication number: 20190355945
Abstract: A sensor sub is provided for use in a tubular handling system, the sensor sub being located adjacent to and removably connected to a saver sub pin connection. The sensor sub collects raw data relating to operation of the tubular handling system, digitizes the raw data and transmits the raw data to a remote receiver. The sensor sub is powerable by one or more commercially available lithium batteries. A battery holder is also provided having a housing for housing batteries in a hazardous environment, wherein the batteries are replaceable within the battery holder while the battery holder remains in the hazardous environment. Finally, a method of replacing a battery in a hazardous environment is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20190353028
Abstract: A sensor-on-clamp device is provided, wherein said clamp houses one or more sensors 8, a power source and sensor data transmitting means. One or more sensors 8 are provided for use in a drilling system, wherein said sensors 8 are mounted to a connection clamp of the drilling system. One or more sensors 8 are further provided for use in a drilling system, wherein said sensors 8 collect data relating to operation of the drilling system, digitize said data and transmit the data to a remote receiver hub. One or more sensors 8 are further still provided for use in a drilling system, said sensors 8 being powerable by a single commercially available, replaceable battery. A battery holder is also provided having a battery housing for housing batteries in a hazardous environment, wherein said batteries are replaceable within the battery holder the battery holder stays in the hazardous environment. A method is further provided for replacing a battery in a hazardous environment.

  • Patent number: 5821405
Abstract: A modular water quality measurement apparatus and method includes a sealed or unsealed housing with a universal sensor interface cap (12) and mechanical and electrical sensor connections (14) for receiving removably attachable sensors (16 or 16'). Each of the mechanical and electrical sensor connections (14) are individually electrically connected to a programmable motherboard (20) within the housing. Sensor daughterboards (22) are removably attached to the motherboard (20) corresponding to individual sensors (16 or 16') connected to the universal sensor interface cap (12). Further, removably attachable input/output daughterboards (24) are electrically connected to the motherboard (20) for accommodating various serial interface types and software is provided for collecting information from the sensors (16 or 16') and transmitting the information through the input/output daughterboards (24) for manipulation by a user.
