  • Publication number: 20100024657
Abstract: A machine for brewing a beverage such as coffee includes a chamber and a piston disposed in the chamber. The piston is operable to move to a first position to allow the chamber to receive a liquid and a flavor base such as ground coffee, to remain in the first position for a time sufficient for the beverage to brew, and to move to a second position to dispense the beverage by forcing the beverage out of the chamber. By modifying some or all steps of the French press brewing technique, the machine can typically control coffee-brewing parameters with a level of precision that yields brewed coffee having a uniform taste from cup to cup, and can typically brew the coffee with a speed that renders the machine suitable for use by establishments that serve significant amounts of coffee.

  • Patent number: 7488179
Abstract: A holder for a component on a vehicle has two holding elements fastened independently and at a distance from each other to the vehicle. A first holding element has a first latching element which interacts perpendicular to the plane of the holding region with a first mating latching element which is complementary thereto and is formed on a first end side of the component. A second holding element has a second latching element which interacts parallel to the holding region plane with a second mating latching element which is complementary thereto and is formed on a second end side of the component. The second holding element has a receiving opening which is passed through by a protruding region, which is formed on the second end side, wherein an opening edge of the receiving opening engages around the protruding component region at least on a side remote from the holding region.

  • Patent number: 7373329
Abstract: Systems for effecting online financial transactions between individuals are disclosed. Any user may initiate a send money transaction or a request payment transaction with any other entity provided that entity has an e-mail address. For a send money transaction, the user sending money (payor) enters an amount of funds to be transferred and an e-mail address of the recipient of the funds (payee). The transfer request may include an identity confirmation through which the payor confirms the identity of the payee. The system sends an e-mail message to the payee at the address provided indicating that the amount of funds has been “received” on the payee's behalf. The payee may open an online account or identify an existing online account to complete the transaction as well as provide identity confirmation for the payor. Upon confirmation, the transfer may occur.

  • Publication number: 20070246534
Abstract: A system is provided for improved elections which may separate the identity of the voter from the content of the vote she casts. The system may be implemented using electronic or other communication methods. Separate entities may be used to implement the system, with one entity acting as a member services system, and another entity acting as an election services system. The member services system may control voter information for all members of a group eligible to vote in a specific election. The election services system may control the voting process, including receiving votes from members, without having access to the voter information controlled by the member services system. The two entities might be configured so that no single person or organization may connect the voter information to a particular vote. This separation of voter information from information in the members' votes may comply with various government regulations relating to elections.

  • Patent number: 7278306
Abstract: A wheel sensor for a tire pressure control device has a holder. To create a wheel sensor for a tire pressure control device which is advantageous to manufacture and assembly and yet does not require any special valve equipment on the wheel, a pivotably mounted housing part be provided on a housing of the wheel sensor, with the housing part being pivotable via a lockable tension element. One rib is provided at the end of the pivotably mounted housing part and another is provided opposite that on the housing. To accommodate the two ribs, corresponding grooves are provided in a holding device on a wheel rim as part of the wheel.

  • Publication number: 20070118491
Abstract: Methods and apparatus consistent with the invention provide the ability to organize and build understandings of machine data generated by a variety of information-processing environments. Machine data is a product of information-processing systems (e.g., activity logs, configuration files, messages, database records) and represents the evidence of particular events that have taken place and been recorded in raw data format. In one embodiment, machine data is turned into a machine data web by organizing machine data into events and then linking events together.

  • Patent number: 6752744
Abstract: The exercise device (10) exercises both the upper and lower body in associated motion, while preventing derailment or other related instability of the lower body linkage, due to the connection and force imparted from the upper body linkage. The device includes a frame (12) which has a forward upright member (20). The axle mounts (30) and (32) are attached to the rear region of the frame (12) and support a transverse axle (34) which is preferably operatively connected to a flywheel (36). The ends of the transverse axle (34) rotatably engage left and right crank arm assemblies (40) and (50) that are coupled to the left and right foot links (60) and (70) so that the foot links travel in an arcuate reciprocal path as the transverse axle rotates. The forward ends (62) and (72) of the foot links terminate in rollers (68) and (78), which engage guide tracks (42) and (52) that are mounted to the frame.
