  • Publication number: 20080109095
Abstract: This disclosures describes an audio home network system 20. The system 20 includes the following: a home network backbone 200; a plurality of network speakers 100 operating in a multi speaker session; and an audio source device 300 that provides digital audio to the network speakers wherein the digital audio is in a compressed format. The network speakers 100 further include a microphone that may be used for receiving and or gathering control information from said network speakers surroundings. And, the network speakers 100 send control information to other devices on the home network backbone 200. In addition, the network speakers 100 operate in either a master mode or a slave mode where a first network speaker operates in the master mode and a second or subsequent network speaker operates in the slave mode. The audio home network system 20 optimizes the audio for the network speakers 100 current location.

  • Publication number: 20060235729
Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for transforming a biometric template so that each application uses a unique template format. One transformed template cannot be successfully matched to a second template extracted from the same biologic entity unless the second template is transformed so that its format is identical to that of the first template. Thus a template generated in a format corresponding to application A could not be used to authenticate a user for application B because the enrollment database for application B would have a different format than the enrollment database for application A.

  • Publication number: 20060204018
Abstract: An integrally mounted control point node for use in an audio distribution system and including a control processor for receiving command signals and providing audio control signals to response thereto; a command signal generator for producing the command signals in response to activation by a user of the system; a terminal for receiving a plurality of audio signals; an audio signal tuner for receiving the control signals and the audio signals; an amplifier receiving an output signal from the tuner and the control signals from the control processor; and a speaker terminal for transmitting the output signal to a speaker.

  • Publication number: 20030169334
Abstract: An improved system and method for personal identity biometric authentication using an iris acquisition device having an expanded capture volume to enable greater ease of use, overcomes the problem of eyeglass reflections to avoid false rejections, has no moving parts thereby enhancing reliability, and achieves low cost through use of a simple design and commonly available components. The invention is directed to an apparatus, system, and method for expanding the capture volume by extending the iris image capture zone in one or more axes (X, Y, and/or Z). The iris image capture device includes a cooperating pair of lens systems and illuminators wherein each individual lens system/illuminator system has a known separation and is capable of capturing an image of either or both a right eye and a left eye of a user thereby extending am apparent width of filed in an X-axis.

  • Patent number: 6540392
Abstract: A micro-illuminator suitable for illuminating the iris of the eye of a subject wearing eyeglasses for the purpose of imaging of the iris for identification of the individual comprises an LED having a micro-lens having an opaque portion sized to block light reflected from the substrate of an LED and a lens for focusing light directly emitted by the dies of the LED. The elimination of the reflected light and the focusing of the directly emitted light minimizes the size of specularities reflected from the surfaces of the subject's eyeglasses.

  • Patent number: 6299306
Abstract: A system and method of positioning an eye of a subject at a selected point in space uses a holographic optical element containing indicia. The indicia are selectively visible to a user when the user is outside a volume surrounding the selected point and direct the user toward the volume. This system can be used with a camera to take an image of the eye from which the subject can be identified.
