  • Publication number: 20240142623
Abstract: Modulation of a frequency of a transmitted optical wave includes: at least a first and second slopes for respective frequency sweeps associated with respective points in at least one of a first or second frame. A computed range and a computed velocity are determined based on combining first partial data derived from at least one measurement associated with a first backscattered portion of the transmitted optical wave with second partial data derived from at least one measurement associated with a second backscattered portion of the transmitted optical wave. The first backscattered portion is received during a frequency sweep at the first slope associated with a first point in the first frame. The second backscattered portion is received during a frequency sweep at the second slope associated with a second point in the first frame different from the first point or associated with at least one point in the second frame.

  • Publication number: 20240142698
Abstract: An optical coupler in a photonic chip is configured to couple an optical port to an array of optical phase shifters in the chip. An optical amplifier module is optically coupled to a portion of the chip to receive phase shifted optical waves, and is configured to: provide, after propagation of the phase shifted optical waves through different respective gain regions, amplified optical waves that optically interfere with each other starting at an emission plane to form an optical phased array output beam, and provide an arrangement of the gain regions such that (1) at least two phase shifted optical waves propagating through adjacent gain regions have optical path lengths between the optical port and the emission plane that are substantially equal to each other, and (2) a pitch of the gain regions is substantially equal to a pitch of the amplified optical waves at the emission plane.

  • Publication number: 20190126158
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to track layout identification techniques. As an example, a set of track segments may be arranged in a certain order to form a track. A variety of track segment types may be used to form the track, and different combinations of the track segments may yield a track having varying characteristics. In an example, each track segment may comprise of a shift register, which may provide information to a base track segment relating to the order of the track segments and the track segment types that comprise the track. In some examples, the base track segment may relay the information to a computing device. Accordingly, the information may be used to determine a track layout, which may in turn be used to provide, for example, the ability for someone else to reproduce the track configuration.

  • Patent number: 9943762
Abstract: A reward associated with a game may be provided based at least partly on a characteristic associated with a user device used to play the game. A threshold or level associated with the device characteristic may be determined. A current level of the characteristic while a user is playing the game via the user device may be determined. Based at least partly on a determination that the current level of the characteristic satisfies the threshold or the level during play of the game, a reward associated with the game may be provided to the user device and/or the user.

  • Patent number: 9492693
Abstract: Anchorage devices for an aerial lift that can include a base plate and a slide bar coupled to the base plate. The aerial device can include a bucket, and the base plate can be coupled to the inside or outside of the bucket. Supplementary anchorage points of the anchorage device can be attached to the lift using lanyards. The slide bar can be attached to the base plate using stanchions. A removable anchorage device can include inner and outer mounting bars, bucket engaging brackets coupling the mounting bars, and a slide bar; where the bucket engaging brackets fit over the bucket for attachment to and detachment from the bucket. • Publication number: 20080126368
Abstract: An electronic document has a plurality of parts including a root relationship part, a payload part, and a glossary part. The root relationship part identifies the various parts of the electronic document. The payload part stores data for the electronic document including one or more links to relationship entries of the glossary part. The glossary part stores relationship entries, the relationship entries identifying locations of resources for the one or more links.

  • Publication number: 20060136670
Abstract: Disclosed is a central cache that is updated without the overhead of locking. Updates are “atomic” in that they cannot be interrupted part way through. Applications are always free to read data in the cache, accessing the data through a reference table. Applications do not directly update the cache, instead, they send update requests to a service routine. To update the cache, the service routine proceeds in two phases. In the first phase, the service routine prepares the new data and adds them to the cache, without updating the reference table. During the first phase, an application accessing the cache cannot “see” the new data because the reference table has not yet been updated. After the first phase is complete, the service routine performs the second phase of the update process: atomically updating the reference table. The two-phase update process leaves the cache, at all times, in a consistent state.

  • Publication number: 20060080060
Abstract: A system and related techniques automatically exercise the output capabilities of a printer or other output device, and return a log or record of those capabilities to the print manager of a host operating system or other destination. According to embodiments, the host, client or other machine may decide to query a printer, facsimile machine, copy or multifunction machine or other device to determine its range of output capabilities such as available fonts, graphical or rending routines, firmware compatibility or other functions or capabilities. The host may transmit a composite electronic document, containing various components including intermediate language objects which may be interpreted to execute various output processing, such as exercising a set of fonts, scaling, rotating, or other rendering or output functions.

  • Publication number: 20050259115
Abstract: A system and related techniques generate a unified representation of graphical representations, such as documents, graphic images or others, for displaying on a display screen, printing on a printer, faxing via a facsimile machine or outputting in other ways. In embodiments a media integration layer, which may reside in the operating system level, may generate renderings from graphics primitives, and send that rendering via a mediation engine to a device driver, for instance a print engine located in a printer. The device engine may return a preview of the output representation to the media integration layer for adjustments or to accept and print the output, all without a necessity for or reliance upon a device-specific driver in the operating system. Since both the display screen and the output device operate off of the same base representation, neither the display nor output device needs to attempt to emulate the output characteristics of the other, and screen-to-print uniformity may be enhanced.

  • Publication number: 20050262243
Abstract: A system and related techniques detect and manage the set of rights associated with a componentized electronic document, including to separately protect and manage individual text, graphic, audio, video or other parts of a multimedia presentation. Unlike prior digital asset management platforms which could enforce encryption or other protection simply around the entire object, the invention permits individualized control over separate media components, to permit distribution for example of some parts, such as text passages, while preventing unauthorized access or copying of audio, photographic, video or other files or content. The electronic document may maintain a list of media components and the set of rights associated with each such component, and a content server or other source may apply key encryption or other safeguards to guide the delivery of the overall media object or its parts, for instance to view in a browser, print on a printer or otherwise access, manipulate or output the content.

  • Publication number: 20050262497
Abstract: A system and related techniques generate an update to control programming, such as firmware, to embed in an electronic document and transmit to a printer, facsimile or other output device. Compatible printers or other output devices according to embodiments of the invention may contain an intermediate language interpreter which receives, interprets and executes the embedded update in the electronic document. That update may include for example an update to the printer's firmware, downloaded forms, fonts or other updates or enhancements which may for instance stored into EPROM or other memory in the output device. Because the resource update is encapsulated in an intermediate language object which may be universally interpreted by compatible printers, facsimile machines and other devices, updates may be delivered with a need to generate specialized code or follow specialized procedures for specific manufacturer's products.
