  • Patent number: 10675020
Abstract: An applicator instrument for dispensing surgical fasteners includes a handle and an articulating shaft extending from the handle including proximal and distal shaft sections and an articulating joint interconnecting the proximal and distal shaft sections. The proximal shaft section has a proximal outer tube and a proximal inner member, and the distal shaft section includes a distal outer tube and a distal inner member. An incompressible member interconnects the proximal and distal inner members to form an inner shaft member having a fixed length. Distal movement of the proximal outer tube relative to the proximal inner member articulates the distal shaft section relative to the proximal shaft section via the articulating joint. As the articulating shaft moves between a straight configuration and an articulated configuration the distance between a distal-most end of the distal outer tube and the handle changes while the length of the inner shaft member remains fixed.

  • Patent number: 10675015
Abstract: A system for deploying a suture implant includes a delivery device and a suture implant coupled with the distal end of the delivery device. The suture implant includes a suture and a slip knot that defines a suture loop, the slip knot defining a dynamic end of the suture loop that is located opposite a closed end of the suture loop. The suture implant includes a tissue anchor having first and second openings, whereby the closed end of the suture loop passes through the first and second openings for securing the tissue anchor to the suture loop. A tensioner is secured to the first end of the suture, and a pledget, located between the tensioner and the tissue anchor, is secured to the second end of the suture. Pulling the tensioner away from the tissue anchor slides the pledget and the slip knot toward the tissue anchor for shortening the length of the suture loop and reducing the distance between the pledget and the tissue anchor.

  • Publication number: 20200138713
Abstract: A medical device for making foam includes a syringe having a plunger for dispensing a liquid from a liquid dispensing port, and a mixing chamber including a mixing chamber inlet, a mixing chamber outlet, a liquid flow channel extending between the mixing chamber inlet and the mixing chamber outlet, and a gas inlet channel that intersects with the liquid flow channel. The system has a gas cartridge containing the gas, a first gas conduit connected with the syringe, and a second gas conduit connected with the gas inlet channel. An actuator is coupled with the gas cartridge for releasing the gas into the first and second gas conduits. The released gas in the first gas conduit forces the plunger toward the liquid dispensing port for dispensing the liquid from the liquid dispensing port and into the liquid flow channel while the released gas in the second gas conduit flows into the gas inlet channel of the mixing chamber for mixing with the liquid in the liquid flow channel.

  • Patent number: 10426430
Abstract: An ultrasound system for planning a surgical implantation of a prosthetic aortic valve produces three dimensional images of the aortic root region of a patient. An electronic model of an aortic root is accessed and fitted to the aortic root in a three dimensional ultrasound image. Preferably the aortic root model exhibits closed contour cross-sections which are fitted to the endothelial lining of the aortic root in the ultrasound image. A medial axis of the fitted model is identified and radii measured from the medical axis to the border of the fitted model. The radii are joined to identify a surface forming a mesh model fitted to the aortic root anatomy of the patient. The shape and dimensions of the fitted model may be used to fabricate a custom prosthetic valve for aortic valve replacement.

  • Publication number: 20190210102
Abstract: An apparatus and process for formation of a multicomponent metal alloy ingot or product in which granulated metal feedstock, under a high pressure inert environment, is introduced onto a rotating platen or previously deposited layer on the rotating platen. As the granulated feedstock is deposited on the platen, the platen is rotated such that a segment of the platen having the feedstock thereon passes through an energy generator field such as a melting laser beam or eddy current induction melting field. As it passes it is melted to form an arcuate segment of melt. The melt is then rotated out from under the energy beam and cooled into a solid state of the desired alloy as a next contiguous segment of feedstock is introduced and the process repeated until a layer is formed. The platen may then be indexed lower and a new layer is formed in the same manner.
