Abstract: Techniques for modifying a user interface in which respective elements are presented if the criteria for those elements are satisfied include receiving criteria and element characteristics for a new or modified user interface element. The criteria for the new or modified element are compared to criteria for existing elements to determine other elements that could be presented contemporaneously if a request satisfying multiple sets of criteria is received. For each element with corresponding criteria, the characteristics of the element are compared to those of the new or modified user interface element to determine whether the sets of characteristics are mutually exclusive. If the characteristics are mutually exclusive, a conflict exists and information regarding the author of the existing element and the goal or rationale associated with the element may be provided to the user attempting to modify the user interface.

Abstract: The present teaching, which includes methods, systems and computer-readable media, relates to techniques to manage representation of a content topic in a content pool. The disclosed techniques may include determining availability of content related to the content topic based on a set of content items in the content pool, and determining a level of interest of a set of users in the content topic based at least on information related to interaction of the set of users with the set of content items. A level of representation of the content topic in the content pool may be determined based at least on the determined availability of content and the determined level of interest. Based on the level of representation, at least some of the set of content items related to the content topic may be updated, e.g., content items may be added to or removed from the content pool.

Abstract: Described are techniques for enabling webpages to be generated and customized based on rules created by a user. A user accessing a user interface may select a set of webpage features, the dimensions or other characteristics of the features, and a corresponding set of rule conditions, such as characteristics of a user device, user account, connection, or webpage. When a request to access a webpage is received, an existing body of rules is queried, and the particular rule that is satisfied by the request is determined. A webpage that includes the corresponding features and feature characteristics of the satisfied rule is generated and provided to the requesting device.

Abstract: Multiple webpages are used to generate a template that includes portions of webpage code or other instructions common to the webpages, and a view model for each webpage that indicates instructions that may be added to the template to reconstruct the webpage. A first webpage and a second webpage are analyzed to generate a first set of tokens that represent instructions for the first webpage and a second set of tokens that represent instructions for the second webpage. The sets of tokens are compared to determine matching and differing instructions between the webpages. A template is generated that includes the matching portions of instructions and placeholders at locations associated with differences. A view model for each webpage is generated that includes a value for each placeholder, the value being the instructions that may be added to the template at the location of the placeholder to reconstruct the webpage.

Abstract: As provided herein, a user of a client device is identified as viewing content (e.g., a movie) and generating user signals related to the content (e.g., a social network post about the movie). An expression of interest may be determined from the user signals (e.g., the user may write “this scene is amazing!” within the social network post). Responsive to the expression of interest exceeding an interest threshold, a timestamp is generated for a portion of the content occurring at a time corresponding to the expression of interest. A segment is extracted from the content based upon the timestamp. Summary content, such as a trailer or a summary video for the movie that depicts relatively interesting segments of the movie, is generated to comprise the segment and/or other segments. Users may view the summary content in order to obtain a brief overview of relatively interesting portions of the movie.
