Abstract: A cosmetic composition is provided which includes an organic sunscreen agent, a water-insoluble polymeric powder of porous particles, and an aqueous system wherein pH is less than 7. The porous particles remove the tackiness normally associated with organic sunscreen agents and low pH systems thereby providing a resultant composition of excellent skinfeel.

Abstract: A foaming cosmetic product is provided packaged in a non-aerosol mechanical dispenser. The dispenser includes a container for holding a liquid composition, a dispensing head with a housing enclosing a pump mechanism and a screen material in the flow path to convert liquid composition into a foam, and a diptube for delivering liquid from the container to the dispensing head. The cosmetic composition is an opaque creamy, relatively non-viscous fluid, the creamy appearance imparted by a latex with suspended polymer particles compatible with the foaming mechanism.

Abstract: A system is described for providing a customized, personal care product to a consumer at a location, typically the point of sale, that is remote from a second location in which a personal care product base composition is prepared. A selection of performance agents of different classes with a common vehicle is made available to the consumer for custom formulation of a personal care product with the desired attributes. The system typically includes a product base, a fragrance part, and one or more performance agent parts that may contain benefit agents, botanical extracts, active ingredients for skin and hair, and the like. A blank vehicle is substituted if insufficient performance agents are selected.

Abstract: A cosmetic powder is provided which includes a crosslinked non-emulsifying siloxane elastomer, a powdered inorganic material and a skin treatment agent. Inclusion of the elastomer allows for the coupling of water as well as water soluble salts into the cosmetic powder.

Abstract: A sunscreen cosmetic composition is provided which is a water and emollient oil emulsion containing an inorganic sunscreen agent such as titanium dioxide with a relatively large particle size ranging from about 0.1 to 20 micron and an organic sunscreen agent. High levels of sunscreen activity are achievable without any significant adverse effect on emulsion aesthetics.

Abstract: A process is provided for preparing a silicone elastomer composition for cosmetic products which includes the steps of feeding the silicone elastomer composition comprising a silicone rubber in a carrier fluid into a reactor, mixing the composition in the reactor, delivering the composition from the reactor into a high pressure pump, pumping the fluid into a device for reducing particles of rubber into smaller sizes and recirculating the resultant size reduced particles back to the reactor. The device for reducing particle size is preferably a high pressure fed homogenizer, most advantageously a sonolator.

Abstract: A skin treatment composition is provided which includes a crosslinked non-emulsifying siloxane elastomer, a skin conditioning agent, a volatile siloxane and no more than 5% water. Hydrocarbons such as petrolatum and polyols such as glycerin are the preferred skin conditioning agents. Inclusion of the elastomer provides a non-traditional smooth/silky feel to the skin upon application with a non-draggy rub in.

Abstract: A skin treatment composition is provided which includes a crosslinked non-emulsifying siloxane elastomer, a volatile siloxane and at least 50% by weight of water. Inclusion of the elastomer provides a unique liquid/powdery feel when rubbed into the skin.
