Patent number: 10385603Abstract: A window positioning apparatus for a vehicle comprising a window panel, a frame in which the window panel is guided between a closed position closing a window opening in the frame and an open position opening the window opening, and a multi-stage telescoping screw actuator mechanism connected between the window panel and the frame, the actuator mechanism being extendible to move the window panel from its open position to its closed position and collapsible to move the window panel from its closed position to its open position. The multi-stage telescoping screw actuator mechanism includes a plurality of screw members of progressively decreasing diameter respectively telescopically disposed within a next adjacent screw member of larger diameter.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2017Date of Patent: August 20, 2019Assignee: Parker-Hannifin CorporationInventors: William K. Fletcher, Christopher R. Vargas, Alexander M. Pankiw, Michael D. Bridges, Thomas J. Baric, Jeremiah K. Miller, Andrew C. McClelland, Daniel H. Craft

Patent number: 9869348Abstract: Provided is a carriage assembly 16 including a carriage 50, a wheel bar 90 that is deflectable relative to the carriage 50, and a plurality of wheels 92, 94, 96 mounted to the bar 90 for rotation around a respective axis 98, 100, 102, the axis 100 of at least one of the wheels 94 being offset from the axis 98, 102 of at least one of the other wheels 92, 96 in a direction of the wheel bar deflection. The wheel bar 90 is deflected relative to the carriage 50 to allow the wheels 92, 94, 96 to engage respective rails 32, 34 in a track 30 to eliminate or reduce play between the wheels and the track.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 2015Date of Patent: January 16, 2018Assignee: Parker-Hannifin CorporationInventors: Thomas James Baric, Michael D. Bridges, Adis Halimic

Patent number: 9797489Abstract: A linear actuator includes an actuator housing (20), a drive screw assembly (26) extending into the actuator housing (20), a tubular thrust rod (22), and an inner sleeve (104) disposed therein and engaging the drive screw assembly (26) for supporting the drive screw assembly (26) against radial movement during axial movement of the thrust rod (22) relative to the actuator housing (20). The drive screw assembly (26) includes a rotatable drive screw (72), a nut (74) coupled to the thrust rod (22) for movement with the nut (74) and in threaded engagement with the screw (72) for driving the nut (74) relative to the screw (72), and a screw bearing (76) coupled to a distal end (90) of the screw (72) for providing engagement between the screw (72) and the inner sleeve (104), where the nut (74) translates rotational movement of the screw (72) into axial movement of the thrust rod (22).Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 2014Date of Patent: October 24, 2017Assignee: PARKER-HANNIFIN CORPORATIONInventors: Thomas J. Baric, Michael D. Bridges, Adis Halimic

Patent number: 7047612Abstract: This invention relates generally to a method for repairing a casting, and more specifically to a method of repairing a casting by pouring melted filler material into a damaged portion of the original casting. Damaged cast metal components, such as a cylinder head of an internal combustion engine are repaired by preheating the component to a first preheat temperature. The damaged area of the casting is then heated to a higher temperature using a torch and melted filler material is poured into the casting. The torch is used to maintain the temperature of the melted material for thirty seconds to two minutes. The temperature of the filler material is then cooled using compressed air.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2003Date of Patent: May 23, 2006Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.Inventors: Michael D. Bridges, Leonid Chuzhoy, Christopher A Kinney, Jose F. Leon Torres, Stephen E Post, Robert E. Sharp
