Publication number: 20220042507Abstract: A diaphragm pump mechanically operable air pressure regulator assembly that is operable in direct response to the relative operation of an associated diaphragm pump system. The regulator assembly includes a housing that is constructed to receive a static air pressure signal. A cam arrangement is disposed in the regulator housing and is constructed to mechanically cooperate with a shaft of a respective diaphragm pump system. Axial translation of the shaft of the diaphragm pump system effectuates rotation of the regulator cam arrangement. The relative motion of the cam arrangement with respect to the regulator housing manipulates a force associated with a biasing device disposed in the regulator and thereby the relative degree of the static air pressure signal that is communicated to the respective diaphragm pump system.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 18, 2021Publication date: February 10, 2022Inventor: Michael D. Patent number: 8740013Abstract: A system for controlling the operation of pneumatic tools includes a controller for controlling the delivery of compressed air to the tool. The controller includes a first flow path that is associated with operation of the pneumatic tool at a first flow rate and a second flow path that is associated with operation of the pneumatic tool at a second flow rate. The controller is configured to automatically configure the system for operation of the pneumatic tool via a flow of air from one of the first flow path or the second flow path. In painting environments, such a system enhances control of the operation of the pump in accommodating a generally stable pump reciprocation rate as fluid viscosities change.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 2008Date of Patent: June 3, 2014Assignee: PFP Control Technologies, LLCInventor: Michael D. Patent number: 6946165Abstract: A method and device of treating an irregularly shaped article to prepare the article for painting is provided. The device includes a burner which can produce an adjustable flame tongue which can fit into crevices, openings and other irregular topographical features of an item to be painted or otherwise coated. The burner device further provides means to apply a grafting chemical on a freshly oxidized surface. Further, the invention provides means to colorize treated objects so that they may be recognized as having been treated. In another embodiment, the grafting chemicals may be enhanced with electrolytic solutions such that electrostatic methods of painting may be subsequently employed on the item. In an alternate embodiment, the burner is adapted to spray a powder inside of a generally enclosed flame, and is used in conjunction with chop guns to manufacture glass or carbon fiber preforms.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 2003Date of Patent: September 20, 2005Assignee: FTS, LLCInventors: Russell Brynolf, Michael D. Patent number: 6705173Abstract: An air flow rate meter and method for monitoring the flow of air in high-pressure compressed air system includes a low pressure gauge contained within a sealed, high pressure vessel that is connected to the high pressure compressed air line. The low pressure gauge is pneumatically connected to opposite ends of a tube disposed within the meter through which the main air pressure line flows in order to detect the pressure drop across the restricted orifice defined by the tube. The measured pressure drop is then used by the gauge to determined the rate of air flowing through the line. To avoid damage to the meter, the air flow rate meter further includes a pressure regulating valve for regulating the input air flow pressure during startup of the system, and a check valve for closing the flow path through the pressure vessel during shut down.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 2001Date of Patent: March 16, 2004Assignee: Autoquip, Inc.Inventor: Michael D.
