Patent number: 7892639Abstract: Multi-layer, edge ingress, tamper- and solvent-indicating labels comprise a top film layer coated over a solvent, e.g., water, hydrocarbon, etc., and dye absorbing layer. The solvent and dye absorbing layer can be on top of a porous layer comprising a binder, pigment and particles of a solvent-soluble dye. The porous layer can be on top of an edge-wicking layer which itself is on top of a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) layer. The edge-wicking layer both absorbs and transports solvent thus serving as a means for transporting solvent to the solvent-soluble dye.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2007Date of Patent: February 22, 2011Assignee: Brady Worldwide, Inc.Inventors: Steven H. Patent number: 7135979Abstract: A label for use as an in-mold label and including a radio frequency identification device (RFID) is disclosed. The label includes an RFID having opposed first and second surfaces; a first layer of heat-activated adhesive disposed on the first surface of the RFID; a second layer of heat-activated adhesive disposed on the second surface of the RFID; and a surface layer comprising a polymeric film disposed on a surface of the first layer of heat-activated adhesive opposite the first surface of the RFID. The label is placed in a mold with the surface layer contacting the mold. A polymer is molded in the mold such that the second layer of heat-activated adhesive (or a surface layer over the second layer of heat-activated adhesive) adheres to the polymer thereby producing a labeled article that can be identified using the radio frequency identification device in the label.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2002Date of Patent: November 14, 2006Assignee: Brady Worldwide, Inc.Inventors: Michael D. Patent number: 4446183Abstract: As assembly (10, 210, 310) of a web of tag material (12, 312) and a web of transparent cover element material (13, 313) carrying a layer of transparent pressure sensitive adhesive (14, 314) that is releasably joined to the lower surface of the web of tag material. The web of tag material is divided into individual tags (22-25, 322-325) and the web of cover element material is divided into individual cover elements (34-37, 334-337) in which a cover element associated with a tag has a portion under the tab and a second portion under an adjacent tag. When a tag-cover element unit (11, 311) is separated from the assembly, the second portion of the cover element is foldable over an edge of the tag to protect identification data applied thereto.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 1982Date of Patent: May 1, 1984Assignee: W.
