  • Patent number: 8298167
Abstract: An apparatus for carrying out selected fluid management and/or renal replacement patient therapy is characterized by an interactive operator control system having operator inputs for selectively changing a panel kit, replacing a filter cartridge, and/or changing to a different patient therapy during a currently running patient therapy, and providing operator instructions for carrying out tasks for completing same. In one embodiment, the interactive operator control system is also characterized by automatically serially identifying different setup steps to be carried out during system setup, displaying the successive steps substantially throughout the system setup as well as displaying on the operator interface screen sequential tasks to be carried out for each of the different setup steps.

  • Publication number: 20120232364
Abstract: Described is an apparatus and method of optoacoustic monitoring of blood concentrations of one or more constituents by directing a flow of a patient's blood through a substantially transparent vessel to optoacoustically detect a concentration of one or more constituents. To detect constituents, pulses of laser light can be passed through the blood flow at one or more frequencies in order to generate an altered laser emission from the exposed blood, and/or induce detectable optoacoustic responses from the constituents. The detectable responses can be detected and measured by analyzing an alteration of the laser emissions and/or the frequency, slope and/or amplitude of the optoacoustic responses for different constituents in the blood.

  • Publication number: 20070082841
Abstract: Methods and systems for preventing or treating various ocular conditions are disclosed and described. In one aspect, for example, a method for minimizing systemic exposure to a steroid-sparing immunosuppressive agent during treatment or prevention of an ocular condition is provided. Such a method may include administering a steroid-sparing immunosuppressive agent directly into an eye of a subject having or at risk for having the ocular condition.

  • Publication number: 20060089590
Abstract: The present invention includes methods and devices for providing sustained in-vivo release of an active agent to a subject. In some aspects, such release may be achieved by reacting an active agent in-vivo with a depot forming agent in order to form a sustained release active agent depot inside the subject. The depot can then release the active agent over a sustained period of time.
