  • Patent number: 6726798
Abstract: The invention relates to polystyrene binders modified by fatty compounds. The fatty compounds used are, in particular, esters of fatty acids or fatty alcohols, more especially triglycerides of higher fatty acids, preferably natural fats and oils. They may be added to the binder in high concentrations without adversely affecting the properties of the binder. However, their addition is of advantage in regard to the wetting properties, resistance to water and, above all, hardness. Dispersion adhesives, hotmelt adhesives and sealing compounds in particular can be improved with the binders according to the invention.

  • Patent number: 6578229
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for removing joint filler and a method of using the same. The device includes a body member and a peeling element located adjacent to the front end of the body member. The peeling element includes at least two peeling points, where the first peeling point is located proximate to the topside of the peeling element and the second peeling point is located proximate to the underside of the peeling element. The device also includes an opening located between the peeling element and body member.

  • Patent number: 6193108
Abstract: The invention relates to a cartridge system comprising a tubular cartridge pistol and a cartridge which can be inserted into the cartridge pistol. The outlet end of the cartridge protrudes out of the cartridge pistol when the cartridge is in an inserted position. The cartridge is provided with an attachment piece at the end for attaching an outlet nozzle. The aim of the invention is to improve the cartridge system in such a way that handling during operation of the system is considerably simplified and in particular no additional auxiliary elements are required apart from said cartridge system. To this end, the attachment piece is sealed with a pierceable membrane on the inside, and the outlet nozzle is provided with piercing elements at the attachment end for piercing the membrane. The piercing elements can be engaged with the attachment pierce.

  • Patent number: 5973047
Abstract: Described is a moisture-curing sealing and bonding compound made from completely synthetic polymers, the compound containing, to improve its non-sag properties, a triglyceride, either as the sole non-sag agent or in addition to prior art agents. The triglyceride should have a melting point over 40.degree. C., preferably over 50.degree. C., and be derived from saturated fatty acids with 8 to 26 C-atoms. Even without using thixotropic agents, compounds can be obtained which do not sag at temperatures over 40.degree. C. Such joint sealants can be used to fill joints more than 35 mm wide without sagging.
