  • Patent number: 11918315
Abstract: This disclosure generally relates to systems and methods for facilitating determination of morphology (e.g., shape) and structure (e.g., size, rigidity) and/or penetrating channels (e.g., microchannels) of occlusions (e.g., clots, fluid obstructions, tumors, chronic total occlusions) involving magnetic particles (e.g., nanoparticles, microparticles) controlled by an external magnetic control system.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 2, 2019
Date of Patent: March 5, 2024
    Assignee: Pulse Therapeutics, Inc.
Inventors: Brian L. Kidd, Sean C. Morris, Michael E. Sabo
  • Publication number: 20210093339
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a system for external manipulation of magnetic nanoparticles in vasculature using a remotely placed magnetic field-generating stator. In one embodiment, the systems and methods relate to the control of magnetic nanoparticles in a fluid medium using permanent magnet-based or electromagnetic field-generating stator sources. Such a system can be useful for increasing the diffusion of therapeutic agents in a fluid medium, such as a human circulatory system, which can result in substantial clearance of fluid obstructions, such as vascular occlusions, in a circulatory system resulting in increased blood flow. Magnetic nanoparticles are provided having a non-specialized chemical coating facilitating association with a chemical composition by a user before infusion. Systems are provided for delivering a consistent infusion mass of magnetic nanoparticles to a patient.
    Type: Application
    Filed: May 11, 2020
    Publication date: April 1, 2021
Inventors: Francis M. Creighton, Michael E. Sabo
  • Publication number: 20200360711
Abstract: Controlled delivery of magnetic particles (e.g., nanoparticles) in combination with therapeutic, diagnostic and/or theranostic agents is described. The magnetic particles may be delivered through a catheter to a location adjacent a therapeutic and/or diagnostic target or region.
    Type: Application

  • Patent number: 8196590
Abstract: A method of navigating a medical device in an operating region in a subject. The method includes applying a magnetic field to the operating region and changing the magnetic moment of the medical device by selectively changing a physical condition of at least one magnet element in the medical device to change the orientation of the device with respect to the applied magnetic field.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 24, 2008
Date of Patent: June 12, 2012
    Assignee: Stereotaxis, Inc.
Inventors: Michael E. Sabo, Rogers C. Ritter, Roger N. Hastings, Raju R. Viswanathan
