  • Publication number: 20130180369
Abstract: According to a first aspect of the invention we provide an apparatus (1) for use with a threaded fastener including: —an inner sleeve member (100) having an internal surface threadedly engagable with the fastener and a tapered external surface; and an outer sleeve member (200) having an inversely tapered internal surface rotatably engagable with the tapered external surface of the inner sleeve member. Advantageously, the invention allows for an increased load bearing surface area between the inner sleeve member (100), which is clamped, and the outer sleeve members (200) without increasing the overall diameter of the apparatus (1) 6; a three dimensional load bearing surface area rather than a conventional two dimensional plane; more efficiently and evenly distributed load stress distribution over the load bearing surface area; higher torsion strength; and apparatus with lower mass, dimensions and volume.

  • Publication number: 20130021904
Abstract: Embodiments provide a system and method for congestion control. The system includes a radio access network (RAN) including a network element, and a core network including a plurality of gateways. The network element is configured to receive a connection request from an accessing device, where the connection request requests connection to a first gateway of the plurality of gateways, and the network element is included in the RAN. The network element is configured to obtain a priority of the accessing device and a threshold priority of the first gateway and grant the connection request based on the priority of the accessing device and the threshold priority of the first gateway.

  • Patent number: 8057145
Abstract: A radially expanding bolt assembly has a hollow element insertable into a hole of an object and having an inner surface with at least one inner surface portion which is tapered, an expanding element insertable in the hollow element and having an outer surface with at least one outer surface portion which is tapered and cooperates with the inner tapered surface portion of the hollow element, additional elements for displacing the expanding element in opposite axial directions for tightening and loosening the bolt assembly, and a washer positionable between the object and one of the additional elements at one of the axial ends, so that the one additional element displaces the expanding element in one axial direction and due to cooperation of the tapered surface portions expands the hollow element to clamp it in the hole of the object, while the other additional element displaces the expanding element in an opposite axial direction and the tapered surface portions disengage from one another so that the hollow el

  • Publication number: 20110145319
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for establishing a plurality of flows between an application server and user equipment to support one or more applications. The method includes transmitting a group request from the application server to a policy server. The group request is to establish the flows and includes information indicating one or more relationships between the flows. The method also includes receiving, at the application server and from the policy server, a response to the group request indicating whether the flows have been established subject to one or more constraints imposed by the relationship(s).

  • Patent number: 7551604
Abstract: A method is provided for controlling communications to and from an access terminal during a hand off period. A smart packet filter is used to identify a packet flow, apply a first treatment to a packet flow based on its destination, and transmit the first treated packet flow along a first route to the access terminal. During a hand off, the packet stream is duplicated, a second treatment is applied to the packet flow and the second treated duplicate packet flow is transmitted to the access terminal via a second route.

  • Patent number: 7480508
Abstract: In a method of tracking a user in a communication network supporting a broadcast-multicast service, the network classifies groups of users into tracking areas. Movement of a user may be tracked as the user crosses a boundary between two tracking areas in the network. The method may enable a balance to be achieved between use of uplink overhead and the level or granularity of tracking desired, so as to conserve radio resources.

  • Patent number: 6628632
Abstract: A handoff method and apparatus are disclosed for use in a wireless communication network in which a primary base station servicing a call directly selects a handoff candidate base station based in part on provided base station identity and address information. The base station is operable to directly establish a connection with a handoff candidate, selected from the one or more neighbor base stations, or neighbors of its neighbors, and handoff the call, based on one or more signal quality measurements and base station identity and address information.

  • Patent number: 6377572
Abstract: A system includes a first virtual end point processor (332) operably coupled to a plurality of channel elements (304) and a second virtual end point processor (340) operably coupled to a plurality of frame selectors (314). The system also includes at least one signaling manager (318, 334) that is arranged and constructed to establish a communication path that terminates at the first virtual end point processor (332) and the second virtual end point processor (340) prior to receiving a request for resources for a data call, such that set-up time for the data call through a wireless network is reduced.

  • Patent number: 4911694
Abstract: A syringe needle assembly including a needle having at least one point for use in a syringe assembly, including a needle shaft with at least one point at one end for entering the patient and one end for engaging the syringe, and a puncture-proof sheath surrounding a major portion of the needle shaft and normally extending substantially the entire length of the shaft while leaving said needle point exposed, the sheath including at least one radially expanded inner portion joined by a portion attached to said shaft, the radially expanded portion being axially compressible to force the sheath to slide in the direction of said point along said shaft to extend beyond and non-retractably cover said point. The present invention is specifically adapted to sheath a single pointed or double pointed needle.
