  • Patent number: 11519555
Abstract: A gas supply system for providing high pressure (HP) gas to a low pressure (LP) gas destination, having a primary HP gas unit and a reserve HP gas unit, which provide regulated lower-pressure gas to a supply manifold, and an LP destination regulator that provides an LP regulated gas supply to a consumption subsystem. A one-way flow valve in fluid communication from the primary HP gas unit to the reserve HP gas unit, ensures that the reserve HP gas unit remains substantially full, even after numerous cycles of depletion and replacement of the primary HP gas unit, during which the HP supply is provided by the reserve HP gas unit, which helps to avoid the risk that the reserve tank pressure and supply might mistakenly, unexpectedly or unintentionally be depleted.

  • Patent number: 7818870
Abstract: Described herein is a method of splitting slabs of steel produced by the continuous casting process. Molten steel, molded into strands proceeds on rollers where it is formed and cut transversely into individual slabs. Then, according to the method described herein, each individual slab is split lengthwise by the coordination of a pair of cutting torches positioned medially over the stabilized slab, each torch moving from each end of the slab and coordinated to complete the longitudinal cut and return to its original position to await the next slab and continue the splitting of slabs into more manageable units.

  • Patent number: 6668908
Abstract: A method of torch-cutting steel, typically slab steel, produced by continuous casting wherein a cutting torch is fueled with propylene and oxygen and wherein the fuel is mixed and combusted on the surface of the slab thus permitting the cutting of the slab to proceed contemporaneously with the production of slab steel by the continuos casting process.
