    Abstract: A receptacle connector is provided for mounting on a printed circuit having a contact mounting area and an incoming trace that extends into the contact mounting area. The receptacle connector includes a housing having a slot configured to receive a mating connector therein. The receptacle connector also includes an upper contact and a lower contact held by the housing. The upper and lower contacts include mating segments, mounting feet, and intermediate segments that extend between the mating segments and the mounting feet. The mounting foot of the lower contact is configured to be mounted on the incoming trace of the printed circuit such that the mounting foot creates a conductive path between the incoming trace and the intermediate segment of the lower contact. The conductive path forms part of a propagation path of electrical current through the electrical trace and the lower contact.

    Abstract: A plug connector having a plug body including a board substrate. The board substrate has at least one engagement surface that is configured to interface with mating contacts of a receptacle connector. The plug connector also includes a plurality of differential pairs that extend along the board substrate. The differential pairs include conductive pathways that have contact pads located on said at least one engagement surface. The contact pads are configured to electrically engage the mating contacts of the receptacle connector. The conductive pathways of at least one differential pair form a cross-over such that the conductive pathways of the plurality of differential pairs have a first arrangement with respect to each other before the cross-over and a different second arrangement after the cross-over. The first and second arrangements generate first and second crosstalk components, respectively, that are configured to offset one another.

A plurality of contacts are loaded into the cavity of the housing through the rear of the housing, and the contacts have channel portions aligned with one another. A retention plug is separately provided from the housing and securely coupled to the rear of the housing. The retention plug is received within the channel portions of the contacts and engages the contacts to hold the contacts within the cavity.

The straddle mount connector includes a plurality of contacts engaging corresponding contact pads. The contacts extend between a termination end coupled to the contact pads and a mating end configured to engage corresponding contacts of the receptacle connector. The straddle mount connector also includes a dielectric connector body having a platform for supporting the contacts. The platform includes a plurality of dividers between each of the contacts, where the dividers define a plurality of channels that receive the contacts. The dividers extend from the platform beyond the contacts such that the contacts are recessed below an outer surface of the dividers.

    Abstract: A cordless modem comprises a radio pair interfaced to a standard data/fax modem which allows a user of a personal computer to wirelessly connect to a telephone line. One end of the radio pair is a remote unit interfaced to the modem contained within the PC while the other end is a base unit connected to a standard telephone wall jack. The base unit can selectively discriminate and adjust for signals received from a telephone voice handset or data signals received from the cordless modem remote unit. Upon receiving an off-hook signal or an incoming call signal, the base unit identifies the type of data (i.e., voice or computer modem data) and adapts accordingly by placing an FM modulator in either of a narrow band deviation or a wide band deviation covering the required range of the particular signal combined with local echo. That is, when voice data is present, a low deviation, narrow filter combination is selected.
