  • Publication number: 20160246489
Abstract: A shutter and shutter operator are displayed adjacent to a boundary of an information display region on a display of a portable electronic device. The information display region displays first information. In a first state, the shutter operator indicates a first direction of movement of the shutter away from the boundary for the display of second information. In response to an input, the second information is displayed, and the shutter operator changes to indicate another direction of movement of the shutter towards the boundary for hiding the second information.

  • Publication number: 20160202850
Abstract: A method, device, and vehicle information system are provided for persisting application context from the vehicle information system to the mobile device. The mobile device provides access to at least one application executing on the mobile device to the vehicle information system. On termination of that access, an operating context is determined for each of the mobile device applications where possible. In some cases, where application context is persisted from one system or device to the other, the current data is presented in accordance with a transport modality associated with the other device or system.

  • Patent number: 9213421
Abstract: A gesture is detected by an electronic device including a display. In response to detecting a first part of the gesture, a first part of first information is displayed on the display. In response to detecting a second part of the gesture subsequent to the first part of the gesture, the display of the first part of the first information is maintained. In response to detecting a third part of the gesture subsequent to the second part of the gesture, an additional part of the information is displayed.

  • Patent number: 9116615
Abstract: A device, which may have a touchscreen display, and methods for its operation are provided using a graphical user interface and an overlay user input interface such as a virtual keyboard. The graphical user interface may include one or more user interface elements displayed in a first region of the display that are actuatable to invoke a corresponding function. When the virtual keyboard is invoked for display in the same region, the underlying graphical user interface is redrawn with a further user interface element corresponding to at least one of the user interface elements previously displayed in the first region, so that the further user interface element is actuatable to invoke a command to carry out the corresponding function. In another embodiment, the virtual keyboard may be modified instead to provide an action key corresponding to a function related to an application executing on the device.
