  • Patent number: 5984411
Abstract: The elevator chair has a seat assembly mounted on a support frame which includes an occupant supporting seat having a rear seat section, a seat back connected to and extending upwardly from the rear seat section and a front seat section which extends substantially across the extent of the rear seat section and which is pivoted to the rear seat section. A seat drive unit drives the seat assembly from a first position where the front and rear seat sections extend in the same first plane to a second position where the rear seat section remains in a second plane parallel to said first plane while the front seat section angles downwardly and outwardly. Subsequently the seat drive unit drives the seat assembly to a third position where the rear seat section tilts forwardly toward the front seat section.

  • Patent number: 5609348
Abstract: The wheelchair of the present invention permits a patient to manually rotate handwheels which operate a drive mechanism to selectively propel the wheelchair, raise and lower the wheelchair seat between a standing and a sitting position or raise the footrest for the wheelchair to elevate a patient onto a portion of a wheelchair support seat in the standing position. As the seat moves to a raised position, a front section thereof pivots downwardly relative to a rear section and the rear section is contoured to support the buttocks of a patient.

  • Patent number: 5401044
Abstract: A lightweight, two piece wheelchair wherein both pieces are separable and optionally foldable. The wheelchair is driven manually by rotating a pair of opposed handwheels, one of which is contacted by each of the occupant's hands. When a seat positioning crank is rotated by the wheelchair occupant, a seat raising mechanism is activated which moves the seat from a horizontal sitting position to an inclined but substantially vertical position toward the front of the wheelchair. As the seat is raised, the contour of the seat is altered to provide added comfort for the occupant in the standing position.

  • Patent number: 5211414
Abstract: A lightweight, optionally foldable wheelchair which allows the user maximum control over both travel direction and seat position. The wheelchair is driven manually by an arrangement of drive gears, which are actuated by a drive gear selector and operated by rotating a pair of opposed handwheels, one of which is contacted by each of the occupant's hands. One of four or more different gears may be selected, including a "Forward Only" and a "Reverse Only" gear, which allow travel only in the direction selected. A dual function shift lever supports the drive gear selector and may be activated to disengage the drive gears and engage a seat positioning gear. When the seat positioning gear is engaged, rotation of the handwheels by the wheelchair occupant will activate a seat raising mechanism which moves the seat from a horizontal sitting position to a substantially vertical position toward the rear of the wheelchair.

  • Patent number: 4872227
Abstract: A spring module for a mattress box spring is formed of a stiffening element made of a sinuously-shaped spring wire and an attachment clip for attaching the spring module to a frame of a box spring, the length of wire being resiliently bent into a circular form and held in the circular form by opposite end portions of the length of wire being engaged with the attachement spring clip. In accordance with the preferred embodiment, the attachment clip is formed of a plate having a pair of notches at opposite lateral sides thereof that receive a respective end portion of each of opposite ends of the circularly bent length of wire with the plate passing through terminal undulations of the sinuous shape located at these opposite end portions. Furthermore, for enabling the plate to grasp respective wires of a wire frame of a mattress box spring, each of opposite longitudinal ends of the plate is provided with a central offset tongue.
