  • Publication number: 20240159529
Abstract: Extending the spatial coverage of a reference pressure network. Particular embodiments described herein include machines that initially determine that an estimated position of a mobile device resides outside a coverage area of a network of reference pressure sensors. Reference-level pressures are determined using measurements of pressure from the network of reference pressure sensors. A time interval and a plurality of wind speeds and corresponding wind directions are used to determine an adjusted location for each reference pressure sensor of the network. The adjusted location and the reference-level pressure for each reference pressure sensor are used to determine a pressure pattern, which is used to determine a reference-level pressure value for the estimated position of the mobile device. The reference-level pressure value is used for calibrating a pressure sensor of the mobile device, or for estimating an altitude of the mobile device for emergency response or navigation.

  • Publication number: 20240163676
Abstract: Systems and methods for pairing a payment object reader with a computing device are described. An example method includes detecting, by a computing device and while in a pairing mode, a plurality of payment object readers. Each of the plurality of payment object readers is configurable to be paired wirelessly with the computing device. Each of the plurality of payment object readers outputs a signal strength representative of a location of the payment object reader relative to the computing device. The computing device tracks respective signal strengths of the plurality of payment object readers over time. Based on a determination that a change in a signal strength of a particular payment object reader of the plurality of payment object readers represents movement of the particular payment object reader relative to the computing device, a wireless communication channel is established between the particular payment object reader and the computing device.

  • Patent number: 11913809
Abstract: Extending the spatial coverage of a reference pressure network. Particular embodiments described herein include machines that initially determine that an estimated position of a mobile device resides outside a coverage area of a network of reference pressure sensors. Reference-level pressures corresponding to reference pressure sensors of the network are determined using measurements of pressure from the network of reference pressure sensors. A pressure pattern for a region that includes the estimated position and an area not included in the coverage area of the network is determined using reference-level pressures that were not determined using measurements of pressure from the network of reference pressure sensors. The reference-level pressures corresponding to reference pressure sensors of the network and the pressure pattern are used to determine a reference-level pressure value for use in calibrating a pressure sensor of the mobile device or for use in estimating an altitude of the mobile device.
