Abstract: Composite bearings and methods for manufacturing these bearings are provided in which a lining comprising polytetrafluoroethylene fiber and a second fiberous material are disposed within a polymeric matrix comprising polytetrafluoroethylene particles and a wetting agent. The composite bearings may be useful in hydropower applications where self-lubricating bearings containing graphite are undesirable because graphite can be corrosive to carbon steel.
