Patent number: 11977486Abstract: A computer system includes a processor core and a memory system in signal communication with the processor core. The memory system includes a first cache and a second cache. The first cache is arranged at a first level of a hierarchy in the memory system and is configured to store a plurality of first-cache entries. The second cache is arranged at a second level of the hierarchy that is lower than the first level, and stores a plurality of second-cache entries. The first cache maintains a directory that contains information for each of the first-cache entries. The second cache maintains a shadow pointer directory (SPD) that includes one or more SPD entries that maps each of the first-cache entries to a corresponding second cache entry at a lower-level cache location.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2022Date of Patent: May 7, 2024Assignee: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Ashraf ElSharif, Richard Joseph Branciforte, Gregory William Alexander, Deanna Postles Dunn Berger, Timothy Bronson, Aaron Tsai, Taylor J. Patent number: 8479522Abstract: The present invention has the technical effect of reducing the start-up time associated with starting a powerplant machine. An embodiment of the present invention provides a method of starting a powerplant machine, such as, but not limiting of, a turbomachine. An embodiment of the method of the present invention provides a new philosophy for starting a turbomachine. This new philosophy involves testing the turbomachine systems before the start-up process begins.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2009Date of Patent: July 9, 2013Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Valerie S. Vernet, Michael J. Alexander, John C. Maters, Kelly M. Graf, Jason D. Fuller

Patent number: 6729135Abstract: A recirculation system for circulating distillate during gas fuel operation so as to reduce or eliminate distillate carbon formation. The recirculation system keeps the distillate's temperature below the carbon formation limit by circulating the distillate back to a heat sink and/or heat exchanger. The recirculating flow also exercises the flow dividers' gears without having to perform fuel transfers. Further, the system evacuates air from the liquid fuel lines to further decrease the likelihood of carbonaceous residue forming on any interior surfaces that are actually exposed to distillate.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2002Date of Patent: May 4, 2004Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Eric Steven Norris, Steven William Backman, Robert Joseph Iasillo, Kevin Jon O'Dell, David J.
