    Abstract: A system for determining properties of fuel supplied to an internal combustion (IC) engine and for adjusting operations of the IC engine based on the determined properties. The system includes an air-flow throttle configured to control the air supplied to the IC engine; a fuel-flow throttle configured to control the fuel supplied to the IC engine; and an engine control module (ECM) configured to receive readings from and control operation of the throttles. The ECM is configured to perform a fuel-air determination program where the ECM determines a percent-error air-to-fuel ratio (AF) based on a true AF ratio compared to an ideal AF ratio. The ECM is configured to perform a fuel property determination and adjustment program in which the ECM is configured to adjust operations of the IC engine based on a fuel property value determined using the percent-error AF ratio.

    Abstract: A nozzle for delivering fuel from a fueling station that can be remotely triggered to shut-off prior to the receiving fuel tank being filled. The nozzle includes a valve that can be opened by a lever and latched into the open position for continuous filling. The nozzle handle has an actuator positioned to cause the latch to release the lever and a controller that can energize the actuator in response to receipt of a wireless signal indicating that the delivery of fuel should be terminated. A wireless communication interface of the nozzle is in wireless communication with a fuel management system that can monitor a fuel flow meter to signal the nozzle to shut-off when the amount of fuel that has been delivered reaches a predetermined amount.

    Abstract: A sand control screen installation for a well includes an auger type sand control screen connected to a length of smooth-walled tubing which is disposed in a tubing seal support sub connected to a packer and having a frangible coupling interconnecting the tubing with the sub whereby the assembly may be pre-installed in a wellbore, the packer set and the tubing decoupled from the sub for reciprocation relative thereto while a fluid tight seal is maintained between portions of the wellbore to prevent underbalanced or overbalanced fluid flow during installation of the sand control screen. In an alternate embodiment, the tubing seal support sub has suitable lock mechanism for installation in a landing nipple in wells with pre-installed tubing strings and packers.

    Abstract: An immobilized isozyme of Lipase MY or AY from Candida rugosa is used for stereoselectively hydrolyzing racemic mixtures of esters of 2-substituted acids, other than 2-halo propionic acids, transesterifying esters or acids or esterify acids or alcohols, at high enantiomeric excess, in an organic solvent. Immobilization of the isozyme may be carried out in the presence of an organic acid such as stearic acid. The immobilized isozyme may be used with a fatty acid or fatty acid ester that increases stereoselectivity or rate of hydrolysis of a mixture of racemic esters.

    Abstract: An alarm system for transmitting alarm information via telephone lines has a plurality of alarm transmitters which are located at subscribers' premises and are adapted to transmit signals indicative of the state of alarms associated with the transmitters along telephone lines to associated receivers. The receivers are located at one or more local exchanges and the receivers at a local exchange are all connected to a local processor. The or each local processor is connected to a central processor which can direct alarm information to one of a number of terminal stations. The local processors continuously scan the outputs of the receivers. When a local processor detects a signal indicative of an alarm condition it transmits a signal coded with the subscriber identity and destination for the alarm information to the central processor which routes the alarm message to the appropriate terminal station.
