  • Patent number: 11949845
Abstract: During operation of a machine, an understanding of terrain features is critical. Accordingly, disclosed embodiments augment a video stream, captured by a camera mounted on the machine, with terrain information. In particular, an overlay is generated on at least one image frame. The overlay, which may comprise one or more semi-transparent bands, may cyclically recede from a foreground to a background of the image frame(s), cyclically advance from a background to a foreground of the image frame(s), or cyclically move horizontally across the image frame(s). The overlay may be colorized to illustrate the height of the terrain underneath the overlay.

Date of Patent: April 2, 2024
    Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.
Inventors: Craig Allan Lehocky, Michael William Bridenbaugh, Brad Robert Van de Veer, Jeffrey K. Berry, Jeffrey J. Baker

  • Patent number: 10239151
Abstract: A method linear friction welds a rotor blade to a disk. The method includes: providing a linear friction welding machine having disk tooling at which a disk is mounted, and further having blade tooling at which a blade is mountable; mounting a dummy blade at blade tooling, dummy blade carrying one or more first measurement devices which interact with mounted disk to measure position of dummy blade relative to disk; adjusting position and orientation of blade tooling relative to mounted disk until first measurement devices indicate that dummy blade is in a suitable alignment with disk to start linear friction welding a blade to disk; releasing dummy blade from blade tooling and mounting a production blade thereat; and linear friction welding the production blade to the disk with the blade tooling starting at adjusted position and orientation.

  • Patent number: 9935797
Abstract: A method for implementing interference mitigation in wireless network such as a Link 16 network does not require interference recognition and does not degrade signal detection even in the absence of interference. An unmitigated correlation score is obtained by correlating received, unmitigated preamble symbols with expected symbols. At least one of the input signals is also correlated after mitigation to obtain a mitigated signal. A mitigated correlation sore is obtained from the mitigated signals, and a mixed correlation score is obtained by combining mitigated and unmitigated signals. A signal is detected if any of the correlation scores exceeds a corresponding threshold. Embodiments use the unmitigated correlation for subsequent message time of arrival determination if the unmitigated correlation score is above its detection threshold. In embodiments, mitigation is applied to only one of the message frequencies.

  • Patent number: 8603081
Abstract: One or more treatment parameters are determined for a cornea reshaping procedure. The one or more treatment parameters are selected so as to reduce an amount of collagen shrinkage in a cornea of a patient's eye caused by the cornea reshaping procedure. For example, the one or more treatment parameters could be selected so as to minimize an amount of stromal collagen shrinkage in the cornea of the patient's eye caused by the cornea reshaping procedure. As another example, the cornea reshaping procedure could include irradiating multiple spots on the cornea of the patient's eye, where each spot is associated with an amount of stromal collagen. The one or more treatment parameters could be selected so that no more than 1% or 5% of the stromal collagen in the irradiated spots undergoes clinically significant shrinkage as a result of the cornea reshaping procedure.
