  • Publication number: 20240125088
Abstract: A system and method for controlling a motor of an electric drivetrain having a multi-speed transmission with at least a first clutch and a second clutch. The system and method includes initiating a transmission shift requiring engagement of the first clutch, applying synchronizing torque commands to the motor based on an engagement parameter of the first clutch until the shift is complete, and applying non-shifting torque commands to the motor after the shift is complete.

  • Patent number: 7228629
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method of manufacturing a three piece aluminum wheel assembly comprising the steps of providing a pair of circular blanks made of a heat treatable alloy to be formed into preforms of a general shape. The preforms are subjected to a quenching step in an unconstrained condition to allow for natural thermal deformation during the quenching operation. The as quenched preforms are then subjected to a first forming operation using spin forming to remove the effects of the thermal deformation in the preform, followed by a second forming step using spin forming to shape the component to its desired final shape. The components are then exposed to precipitation heating and finishing to yield the final product.

  • Patent number: 4936129
Abstract: A method of manufacturing vehicle wheels from a disc blank, in which the wheel has rim portions of uniform thickness and different lengths. The wheel is made by spin forging the edge portion of the disc to form an angled portion, splitting the disc into two split portions one of which has the angled portion joined at its end and forming the split portions into a desired rim configuration. A groove may be formed on the periphery of the angled portion to precisely fix the location of the split.

  • Patent number: 4579604
Abstract: A method of forming a one piece vehicle wheel is disclosed which method includes the steps of initially forging a rough vehicle wheel shape which is then subjected to a series of spinning operations to contour the rim portion thereof. Part of the final contouring of the rim portion of the wheel is performed without mandrel backing. The entire final contouring is performed after a solution heat treatment that imparts a T4 material condition thereto in order to assure accurate formation thereof. Additionally, if desired, final machining and/or trimming operations may be performed without removing the wheel from the final contouring apparatus.
