  • Publication number: 20120137585
Abstract: A movable barrier apparatus, a kit configured to be assembled and mounted adjacent to a barrier opening, and a method of monitoring for ballooning of a movable barrier are described herein. A sensing device is positioned outwardly from a drum configured to receive a movable barrier therearound. A ballooning movable barrier engages or disturbs the sensing device, which, in response to the disturbance, sends a signal, such as a signal to sound an alarm, stop movement of the door, or the like.

  • Patent number: 8156854
Abstract: A firearm includes a receiver and a bolt carrier disposed in the receiver. The bolt carrier is moveable between a firing position and a rearward position. A rod is fixed relative to the bolt carrier and a hand guard is coupled to the receiver about the rod. A handle assembly is slideably supported by the hand guard and is moveable toward the receiver to define a charging motion and away from the receiver to define a forward assist motion. The handle assembly receives the rod during both of the charging and forward assist motions. An arm is coupled to the base and is moveable between a disengaged position spaced from the rod and an engaged position abutting the rod. When the arm is in the engaged position, the handle assembly is moved to move the rod and the bolt carrier in either of the charging and the forward assist motions.

The receiver includes a threaded end and the hand guard includes a flange extending into the hand guard bore and abutting the receiver about the threaded end. A hand guard nut abuts the flange of the hand guard and threadedly engaging the threaded end of the receiver. The hand guard nut sandwiches the flange between the hand guard nut and the receiver for attaching the hand guard to the receiver. The hand guard includes a first hand guard portion and a second hand guard portion removably attached to the first hand guard portion. The second hand guard portion is slid from an assembled position to a disassembled position to expose the hand guard nut in the hand guard bore.

  • Publication number: 20120041996
Abstract: The present invention relates to the design and implementation of parallel pipelined circuits for the fast Fourier transform (FFT). In this invention, an efficient way of designing FFT circuits using folding transformation and register minimization techniques is proposed. Based on the proposed scheme, novel parallel-pipelined architectures for the computation of complex fast Fourier transform are derived. The proposed architecture takes advantage of under utilized hardware in the serial architecture to derive L-parallel architectures without increasing the hardware complexity by a factor of L. The proposed circuits process L consecutive samples from a single-channel signal in parallel. The operating frequency of the proposed architecture can be decreased which in turn reduces the power consumption. The proposed scheme is general and suitable for applications such as communications, biomedical monitoring systems, and high speed OFDM systems.

  • Patent number: 8028725
Abstract: A filling valve apparatus for filling a container with a fluid. The apparatus includes a body portion and a stem. A sleeve is disposed over the stem and is removable from the stem and the body portion when the filling valve apparatus is serviced. A seal is mounted to the bottom of the sleeve. At least one component is movably connected to the sleeve and remains connected to the sleeve when the sleeve is removed from the stem and the body portion during the servicing of the filling valve apparatus. Similarly, a valve assembly, having a housing and a movable plunger is removable from the body portion. At least one member is mechanically connected to one of the housing and plunger for creating a unitary valve assembly that remains intact when the valve assembly is removed from the body portion during servicing of the filling valve apparatus.
