  • Publication number: 20160128577
Abstract: A system for measuring skin hydration at a measurement site with a independent measurement probe and a portable data processing system. Wireless communications enable the transfer of commands and data between the probe and portable data processing system. The portable data processing system can comprise a wireless tablet or smartphone. The portable data processing system provides input functions and output functions on its display and includes a camera for imaging the measurement site.

  • Publication number: 20140275848
Abstract: A patient monitoring system including a sensing-recording device that attaches to a patient, a probe utilized to attending personnel at a trauma site and a portable data processing system with wireless communications means with each of said probe and sensing-recording device. A medic utilizes a portable data processing device in the form of a tablet or smart phone to select measurements and to control the operation of the probe and the sensing-recording device. Information obtained from the probe can be transferred to the sensing-recording device. The sensing-recording device includes sensors for continuing to accumulate information about various physiological parameters during the transport of a patient from a trauma site to a medical facility.

  • Patent number: 7219534
Abstract: A system and method for measuring the transpirational characteristics of a permeable polymeric membrane, particularly polymeric membranes used for bandages. The polymeric membrane is placed against a moisture source. A probe is applied to the other side. Signals from the probe are sampled at a high rate to detect a first transient appearance of moisture on the surface being measured. The interval between the first transient response and a predetermined equilibrium value defines the transpirational characteristics of the polymeric membrane.

  • Patent number: 7195595
Abstract: Relative Mean Arterial Pressure values are obtained non-invasively using a probe to obtain moisture measurements at a selected site on a subject. A control collects data samples. A converter produces a relative value of Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) in response to the collected data (DPM) in accordance with a correlation defined by: MAP=(DPM?DPM(0))/K(I).

  • Publication number: 20020161312
Abstract: A method and apparatus for measuring relative hydration of a substrate. Measurements of the electrical characteristics of the substrate and the force applied to and the temperature of the substrate during the measurement provide inputs for determining such relative hydration of the substrate.
