  • Patent number: 11961598
Abstract: A method for predicting errors in prescription claim data is performed by a claim analysis device. The method includes extracting historical claim features from successfully processed historical claims received from the data warehouse system. The method includes extracting pending claim features from a pending claim. The method includes applying a binarization process on the extracted historical claim features to obtain a binarized training feature set. The method includes applying the binarization process on the extracted pending claim features to obtain a binarized pending feature set. The method includes calculating an aggregate distance between the binarized pending feature set and the binarized training feature set. The method includes identifying the historical claim associated with the least aggregate distance as a predictive historical claim.

  • Patent number: 8163327
Abstract: The invention provides a durable, lubricious coating for a medical article that can be prepared from a first polymer that is synthetic, soluble in a polar liquid, and having first reactive groups, and a second polymer that is synthetic, hydrophilic, and that includes second reactive groups. The first reactive groups and a portion of the second reactive groups react to bond the first polymer to the second polymer. A portion of the second reactive groups remains unbonded which, upon neutralization, provide lubricious properties to the coating. In some aspects the coating is formed using a crosslinking agent having latent reactive groups. The coatings provide particularly long dry out times and are very useful for catheterization processes. In addition, the coatings can be subject to sterilization with ethylene oxide and retain very good durable and lubricious properties.

  • Patent number: 8105666
Abstract: Compliant coatings for insertable medical articles are provided. In some aspects, the coating includes a diene polymer-containing layer, and a second coated layer that includes another polymer. The coating can be formed by coupling the polymer of the second coated layer to the first coated layer via latent reactive groups, such as photoreactive groups. In other aspects, the insertable medical article has a coating that provides different functional features to different surfaces of the article. The medical article can have a cylindrical shape with an interior surface having a first coating, and an exterior surface with a second coating, wherein the article also includes a plurality of openings.

  • Patent number: 7544673
Abstract: A coating composition and related method for use in applying a bioactive agent to a surface in a manner that will permit the bioactive agent to be released from the coating in vivo. The composition is particularly well suited for coating the surface of implantable medical device, such as a stent or catheter, in order to permit the device to release bioactive agent to the surrounding tissue over time. The composition includes a plurality of compatible polymers having different properties that can permit them to be combined together to provide an optimal combination of such properties as durability, biocompatibility, and release kinetics.

  • Publication number: 20080057298
Abstract: The invention provides a low-friction halogenated nano- or microparticulate coating and method for forming the coating on articles, such as implantable medical articles. The halogenated nano- or microparticles, desirably fabricated from PTFE, are present on the surface of the coating and covalently coupled to a coupling component, which facilitates formation of the coating. The coatings are biocompatible and can be formed on a selected portion of a medical device in a straightforward process. In some aspects the nano- or microparticulate coatings are formed on a system for the insertion of a medical device, wherein the system includes a catheter.

  • Patent number: 6669681
Abstract: A needless connector is provided which utilizes a resealable preslit septum valve. The valve is resiliently restrained relative to a housing with the valve and housing configured to accept a standard male luer lock having a luer tip which penetrates the valve through the opening to extend within the housing and a luer locking flange of the luer lock extending about the housing. The valve includes a disk shaped upper portion covering the opening, a lower portion spaced from the housing and extending downward from the disk shaped portion into a passageway defined by the housing, and an annular skirt to attach the septum to the housing. The connector exhibits satisfactory leak pressure after multiple connections and disconnects to the luer lock fitting and long periods of indwell of the luer tip.

  • Patent number: 6595964
Abstract: A coupler for receiving a threaded male luer fitting in sealed relationship includes a housing having an attachment end, a conduit end opposite the attachment end and defining a central passageway for providing fluid communication between the luer fitting and a conduit. An arrangement is attached to the housing for establishing a sealed connection between a luer tip and the central passageway. The conduit end has a relatively larger diameter than the attachment end and defines a shoulder at a junction of the attachment end and the conduit end. A resilient member is disposed on the attachment end adjacent the shoulder for exerting an axially directed compressive force upon the male luer fitting as it is threadably engaged upon the attachment end.

  • Patent number: 6569125
Abstract: A pre-slit injection site (34) includes a housing (40) with a flow path therethrough. A first end (42) of the housing (40) carries a pre-slit septum (52). One form of a blunt cannula (98), usable with the injection site (34), carries a locking member (100). When the pre-slit injection site (34) slidably receives the blunt cannula (98), the locking member (100) latches to the injection site (34) and creates a mechanically coupled unit. Another form of the cannula (280) includes a tube having a tapered distal end region (298) and having elongate discharge slots (294) for reducing contact surface area and for directing the flow laterally out of the cannula. The cannula may also include a rounded lead post (330), an annular barb (394), and axially oriented grooves (268).
