  • Publication number: 20240159324
Abstract: A valve assembly includes a body engageable with a container, an internal cavity, and a vent outlet. A wall divides the internal cavity into a first chamber and a second chamber, the first chamber being between the bottom end of the body and the wall, and the second chamber being between the top end of the body and the wall, in communication with the vent outlet. An umbrella valve is coupled to the wall and has a central passage and an umbrella portion. The umbrella portion is positioned within the second chamber and is configured to engage a top side of the wall. The umbrella portion is configured to deform away from the top side of the wall to vent a gas along a first pathway from the first chamber to the vent outlet in response to pressure within the first chamber exceeding a cracking pressure of the umbrella valve.

  • Patent number: 8434634
Abstract: A cap may include a threaded inner body and an outer cover. A ratchet mechanism may be operatively positioned between the inner body and the outer cover to directly transmit rotation from the outer cover to the inner body in the cap-unthreading direction and to transmit no more than a predetermined amount of torque from the outer cover to the inner body in the cap-threading direction. A gauge assembly may include a float, an indicator dial, and a pointer. The float is supportable at a level of fluid within the container, and the pointer is movable in response to movement of the float with the level of fluid in the container. The pointer cooperates with the indicator dial to indicate the level of fluid in the container. A translucent crystal may be positioned over the indicator dial and the pointer. The crystal may be fixed relative to the inner body.

  • Patent number: 5224379
Abstract: A gauge for indicating whether the level of a liquid, such as fuel or oil, in a tank has reached one or more preselected levels. A magnet is mounted in a stem attached atop a float which moves up and down with the rising and falling of the liquid level. When the magnet is adjacent an electrical switch housed in a sealed cover, the switch closes and connects an external power supply to a warning light. The float moves within a cylinder which has a small drain hole at the bottom and a vent near the top. Liquid moves into and out of the guide through the drain hole at a relatively slow rate and thereby eliminates intermittent closing and opening of the switch which would otherwise occur due to the sloshing of the liquid when the tank is in motion, such as when mounted in a vehicle.
