  • Publication number: 20240190872
Abstract: A FabI inhibitor called fabimycin that has impressive activity against >200 clinical isolates of E. coli, K. pneumoniae, and A. baumannii. Fabimycin has activity in multiple mouse models of infection caused by Gram-negative bacteria, including a model of urinary tract infection. Fabimycin has translational promise, and its discovery provides data indicating that antibiotics whose spectrum of activity is restricted to Gram-positive bacteria can be systematically modified to accumulate in Gram-negative bacteria and be effective against these problematic pathogens.

  • Publication number: 20240145099
Abstract: A respiratory disease analytics system provides respiratory disease risk reports to a patient, provider, or third-party entity describing a patient's risk of experiencing a medication usage event given data in a geographic region. Regional data, including air pollutant conditions, weather conditions, demographic information, built environment factors, and regional health conditions for a geographic region are accessed from other sources and assigned based on event data recorded during a medicament usage event, as collected by sensors associated with the patient's medicament device/s. The regional data is assigned to medicament usage events occurring within a period of time. The assigned regional data is analyzed to determine an expected number of medication usage events for the geographic region occurring over the period of time.

  • Patent number: 11571306
Abstract: Features for a restraint to facilitate delivery and deployment of an implantable cardiac device are described. The restraint may include a series of circumferential engagements for securing inwardly corresponding portions of the implant. The restraint may be located inside the implant and provide a radially inward force on the implant. The restraint may include a center shaft having a series of grooves configured to cooperate with corresponding splines of the implant. Distal or proximal advance of the restraint disengages the restraint from the implant. The implant may include a tubular frame configured to contract and be secured by the restraint in a contracted configuration and to expand upon disengagement from the restraint. The restraint may provide for a smaller overall cross-sectional profile of a transcatheter delivery system, for instance by negating the need for a distal delivery sheath.

  • Patent number: 11523905
Abstract: Features for a restraint, such as a cap, are described. The restraint secures a cardiac device in a collapsed, delivery configuration for transcatheter delivery to a heart. The restraint may have a tubular sidewall extending from a proximal end to a distal end, a proximal opening defined by the sidewall at the proximal end and a channel defined by the sidewall and extending distally from the proximal opening. The restraint is configured to receive the implant in the collapsed configuration through the proximal opening to radially restrain the implant within the channel. The restraint eliminates the need for a surrounding sheath, reducing the delivery profile and size of the overall delivery system, among other advantages. The restraint may have an atraumatic leading edge to reduce the risk of injury to the patient.

  • Patent number: 11432927
Abstract: Systems, devices and methods related to various heart valve implants and for delivery of those implants are described. The implants may be used to re-size a native valve annulus or to replace a native heart valve. The implants include a re-sizable frame having angled struts. The implant is secured to tissue with anchors that can rotate without axial advancement to engage tissue while drawing the implant closer to the tissue. Collars are used to decrease the angle between struts of a frame to contract the implant. The implants can include a rotatable shaft, such as a threaded shaft, located internally to an axially translatable collar. Rotation of the shaft transmits force to the collar to cause the collar to translate axially, closing the angle of adjacent struts and decreasing the width of the implant and thus of the annulus. The implants can be delivered, secured and contracted via a catheter. The implants are repositionable and retrievable via catheter.

  • Patent number: 10881540
Abstract: An implantable stent includes multiple circumferential segments that surround a bore and are connected in series along a length to form a tubular wall. Multiple adjacent alternating opposite facing crowns arranged along each segment's circumference are bridged by struts. The struts include a series of staggered arcuate edges with limited flats to provide a limited region of maximum width between significantly extended reducing diameter tapers at either end where they transition into the crowns. Connections between adjacent segments are wider and stiffer than the struts and strut-crown transitions in the segments. The crowns include inner and outer radii with off-set centers along a common axis to provide medial crown peaks along the axis that are wider than the narrowed crown shoulders on either side of the axis and from which the tapered struts extend. Material strain and flexure along the stent during lateral bending is distributed mainly within the segments, e.g.
