  • Publication number: 20100114270
Abstract: The variable stiffness heating catheter includes a heating catheter shaft including at least one electrically conductive member, a reinforcing tube with apertures formed around the surface of the reinforcing tube, and at least one coaxial outer layer of a polymer, metal, or both for providing desired variations in stiffness along at least a portion of the length of the shaft. The apertures can be formed as axial or helical slits in the surface of the reinforcing tube, and the reinforcing tube can also be formed to be tapered at the point where the apertures are formed in the reinforcing tube to provide a heating catheter that is torqueable and pushable at the proximal end, yet soft and flexible at the distal end.

  • Patent number: 7216642
Abstract: A glider toy has pivoting wings that may be locked in a retracted position prior to launch. Upon launching of the glider, the wings may be unlocked. During flight, the wings extend forward for an entertaining glide at the urging of one or more elastic members. A launcher includes an orientation-sensitive safety feature that limits the angles at which projectiles may be launched therefrom. The safety feature permits projectiles to be launched from the launcher only within approximately a generally upward, non-vertical angular range.

  • Patent number: 6141777
Abstract: A system and method for reporting, directly to a customer, conditions of telecommunications services to which the customer subscribes. The system includes a server for collecting fault information from the telecommunications network management system and a customer workstation for viewing the information. The customer can use the workstation to define a view of the data he wishes to receive. The server builds reports using the view, and provides the reports to the customer.

  • Patent number: 5583509
Abstract: A communications electronic warfare trainer that includes apparatus and a thod by which a training umpire can control the localized jamming of a victim communications system. A control signal containing an address and duration of jamming is generated and transmitted using the same frequency as the victim communications system. The control signal is processed by a Receiver Unit collocated with the victim communications system to determine if the control signal address matches the address of the victim communications system. If an address match is found, a jamming signal is produced for the specified duration causing disruption of the normal operation of the victim communications system.

  • Patent number: 5165748
Abstract: An extended sun visor accessory for motor vehicle including central and side panels that are foldable into an inoperative position wherein the accessory may be stored in a space similar to that of a conventional vehicle sun visor employed for aircraft, shipcraft and various motor vehicles when inoperative and extended to cover a windshield for the vehicle. The extended sun visor panels are foldable along both vertical and horizontal fold lines, extending from the conventional vehicle sun visor first along horizontal folds that are parallel to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle sun visor and then extending along vertical fold lines that are perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle sun visor to cover virtually the entire windshield thereof. Securing means retains the accessory when inoperative. The accessory may be constructed to attach to a vehicle sun visor or the vehicle sun visor may be constructed to house the invention within a recessed area contained within the vehicle sun visor.
