  • Patent number: 6917172
Abstract: A motor controller for an electric motor having a plurality of motor terminals is connected to a power supply and comprises a commutation control, a current sensor, a peak target circuit, a pulse width control and a reverse current control. The commutation control is connected to the motor terminals for causing current pulses to flow through selected terminals during each commutation state. The current sensor provides a sense signal representative of the current pulses, and the peak current target circuit provides a target signal. The pulse width control controls pulse width of the current pulses as a function of the sense signal and the target signal. The reverse current control prevents reverse current from flowing into the power supply during change of commutation state.

  • Publication number: 20040054444
Abstract: The invention provides a method for uploading data from a vehicle. A type of data may be selected for collection, and stored on a vehicle control processor. A trigger event may be selected and stored on the vehicle control processor for determining when the collected data may be uploaded to a central data repository. The data stored in vehicle control processor memory may be uploaded to the central data repository whenever this upload trigger event occurs.

  • Patent number: 6616839
Abstract: The present invention discloses a portable water treatment facility. The water treatment facility has housing on castors. The housing houses the water treatment member. The housing has various doors which are locked to make the housing tamper resistant. The housing has an external sampling station which allows a technician at any point in time to ensure that all of the liquids being provided by the water treatment member meet specifications. This system has a modular water treatment member consisting of various filters, tanks, and pumps which are attached to one another by short fluid conduits with quick disconnects. The system is computer monitored, capable of remoting data offsite and producing an audit trail capturing system operational parameters and quality of water produced over time.

  • Patent number: 6609532
Abstract: A rotational two valve disconnect apparatus including a first rotational valve, a second rotational valve, and a rotational disconnect structure connected to the valves. The valves on the disconnect structure are constructed so that the disconnect can be engaged to flowably connect the first and second valve and disconnected to separably disconnect the first and second valves. The structure is further designed so that a single rotational movement will engage the disconnect structure and open the first and second valves or an opposite rotational movement may close the first and second valves and then disengage the disconnect structure. The preferred embodiment utilizes a single rotational axis for both the first and second valves and the disconnect structure. A further design advantage includes radial ports to allow for reduced operating requirement for the valve in high pressure environments.

  • Patent number: 6597134
Abstract: A pulse width modulation controller for a hard disc drive spindle motor controls the rapid spin up of the spindle motor from a stop condition to normal operating speed using a multi-level peak current limiting and six state commutation. At the beginning of each commutation state, peak motor current is limited to less than its steady state peak value for a selected number of pulses. The peak current target then returns its normal level for the remainder of the commutation state. By reducing the peak current target for several pulses after each commutation state change, the effective supply current spike at commutation is reduced or eliminated.

  • Patent number: 6537450
Abstract: A centralized bicarbonate mixing system is provided for a plurality of dialysis machines of a dialysis clinic. The system includes a source of purified water, a mix tank, an eductor having a hopper for receiving dry bicarbonate material, a mixing pump and a mixing conduit loop connecting the mixing pump, the eductor and the mix tank so that as water is circulated by the mixing pump through the mixing conduit loop, the dry bicarbonate material is drawn into the eductor and mixed with the water. The system further includes a circulation tank, and a transfer conduit connecting the mixing conduit loop to the circulation tank, so that a mixed bicarbonate solution can be transferred from the mixing conduit loop to the circulation tank. The system further includes a circulation pump, and a circulation supply conduit connecting the circulation tank and the circulation pump so that mixed bicarbonate solution can be pumped from the circulation tank to the dialysis machines.

  • Patent number: 6515443
Abstract: A motor controller for a three-phase spindle motor used in the hard disc drive provides pulse width modulated (PWM) signals used to drive the motor. The PWM signals have duty cycles which are a function of rotational position of the motor, a magnitude control signal, a stored set of main waveform coefficients, a stored set of modifier coefficients, and a modifier signal. By varying the modifier signal, the duty cycle of the PWM signals can be varied to adjust the shape of the motor current waveform to match the torque profile of the motor.
