The mechanism includes a barrel nut having an exterior surface and an annular groove, a handguard having an attachment portion with an axial opening to receive at least a portion of the exterior surface of the barrel nut including the annular groove, and a cross bore that, when the axial opening is assembled onto the barrel nut, substantially corresponds in position to the annular groove and that at least partially intersects the axial opening. The handguard has rearwardly extending fingers that engage opposite sides of the upper receiver pivot lug and a fastener, when inserted into the cross bore, engages the annular groove.

A support member longitudinally extends from the second portion and a butt member is carried on the support member. The butt member is selectively longitudinally positionable on the support member relative to the knuckle between at least an extended position and a collapsed position. The butt member includes a heel surface for abutting a user's shoulder with a downwardly extending toe portion.

Abstract: Provided is a firearm gas operating system. A gas block includes a cylinder housing. A gas actuation piston in the cylinder housing reciprocates between forward and rearward positions and has a head portion with a recess. A switchable gas control valve is insertable into the forward end of the cylinder housing and includes a central passageway open at forward and rear ends. A tubular extension open at opposite ends extends axially rearward from the gas control valve and is configured to be received by the piston head portion recess. Gas pressure diverted from the barrel causes the piston to reciprocate from its forward position, where the head portion recess extends over the tubular extension, to its rearward position, where the head portion recess disengages from the tubular extension, allowing gas to exhaust through the tubular extension and forward end of the control valve to atmosphere.

Abstract: Provided is a gas operated firearm timing selection system having a barrel, first and second gas blocks, a gas delivery tube, and a selector tube. The barrel has at least first and second longitudinally spaced apart gas port locations. First and second gas blocks each correspond to one of the gas port locations. The gas delivery tube operably extends between the first gas block and an operating system of the firearm. The selector tube operably extends between the gas blocks to convey operating gas from either of the gas port locations and is selectively displaceable between at least a first position and a second position. Each position provides gas flow from only one of the gas port locations such that the timing of operating gas flow to the operating system is changed by selection between first and second positions.

Abstract: A fire control switch for a firearm includes a lever assembly mounted to a first end or to a second end of a shaft. The lever assembly includes a spring-loaded rotatable pawl moveable between a first position and a second position, wherein the lever assembly is mounted to the shaft when the pawl is in the first position and can be released from the shaft by moving the pawl from the first position to the second position. In other embodiments, a second lever assembly or cap may be mounted to the other end of the shaft.

Abstract: A fire control switch for a firearm includes a lever assembly mounted to a first end or to a second end of a shaft. The lever assembly includes a spring-loaded rotatable pawl moveable between a first position and a second position, wherein the lever assembly is mounted to the shaft when the pawl is in the first position and can be released from the shaft by moving the pawl from the first position to the second position.
