    Abstract: A device for the storage of multiple bottles of wine including an open wine container therein. The device includes a purging station for the introduction of inert or heavier thin air gas to the open wine container and an actuator for selectively introducing the heavier than air gas to the open wine container. The device further includes a cabinet having a top, bottom, sides and back creating a space for housing a plurality of wine containers in an upright orientation and a door having an open window to enable one to view at least the open wine container while the door is closed.

    Abstract: A stopper for a container having a liquid, such as wine, which is subject to oxidation once opened. The stopper is provided with a neck region for fitting within a bottle and a top for residing outside of the bottle when in use. Pathways for the introduction of an inert gas, such as argon, and for air expelled from the bottle when the inert gas is introduced are selectively closeable. Liquid housed within the bottle can be poured from the stopper without removing it. Thus, an oxidizable liquid can be preserved while decanting the bottle contents at will.

    Abstract: A stopper and method for its use for selectively retaining a liquid, such as wine, within a bottle and for minimizing oxidation of the bottle's contents. The stopper includes a head portion sized to reside external to the bottle opening and a neck portion sized to fit and be selectively retained within the neck of the bottle. The stopper further has an inert gas entry port for receiving a source of pressurized inert gas and for introducing the inert gas proximate the meniscus of the liquid in the bottle and a gas venting port for discharging gas from the bottle upon the introduction of inert gas thereto. The stopper is provided with a plurality of seals substantially preventing liquid from passing through the stopper when the neck portion is seated within the bottle opening.
