Publication number: 20240112884Abstract: A system may include a controller couplable to an imaging sub-system utilizing multiple particle beams, where the imaging sub-system includes one or more control elements to manipulate the two or more particle beams that are adjustable with two or more control parameters. The controller may select values of the two or more control parameters by iteratively performing steps until one or more termination conditions are met. For example, the controller may receive measurements of changes of distortions of the particle beams resulting from individual adjustments of the control parameters. The controller may further calculate values of the control parameters that reduce the distortions of the particle beams based on the changes of the distortions resulting from the individual adjustments. The controller may further direct the adjustment of the values of the control parameters to the calculated values.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 28, 2022Publication date: April 4, 2024Inventors: Michael I. Cook, Sameet K. Shriyan, David Dowling

Publication number: 20220366326Abstract: Systems and methods relating to usage of multimodal transportation systems are disclosed. Such systems and methods may identify available local transportation modes for a user, such as vehicle-sharing, ridesharing, rental vehicles, taxicabs, owned vehicles, or public transit options. The available transportation modes may be compared, and recommendations may be presented to the user. Routes may be identified, compared, or recommended to a user, and scheduling or ticket purchasing may be facilitated. With user permission, user transportation data may be collected via a smartphone to identify user transportation patterns and preferences, thereby improving recommendations regarding and assessment of user transportation. Information regarding risks or other relevant factors associated with various transportation modes may be assessed for a user based upon typical characteristics of user transportation choices over a plurality of transportation scenarios, which may be indicated by a user transportation profile.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 1, 2022Publication date: November 17, 2022Inventors: Craig Cope, Kristopher Keith Gaudin, Ryan Gross, Melissa C Miles, Jessica Lynn Shull, Michael K Cook

Patent number: 10715598Abstract: Methods and systems for processing machine accelerated and augmented customer data using a Web-Scale Data Fabric (WSDF). According to embodiments, the data may be received as data transfer objects from a set of business operations client applications. The data transfer objects may be analyzed using complex event processing (CEP) and, based on the analyzing, rules specific to the business operations client application may be applied. The methods and systems may semantically classify text specific to the business operations client application. A federated database (FD) may archive the receive data transfer objects as well as analysis data specific to the business operations client application.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 2018Date of Patent: July 14, 2020Assignee: STATE FARM MUTUAL AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE COMPANYInventors: Alex Anton, Tim G. Patent number: 10572948Abstract: Methods and systems for processing data associated with potential damage to a portion of the property. One or more sensors may be disposed in proximity to the portion of the property, where the one or more sensors are configured to sense physical force applied to the portion. A controller module calculates mechanical force data based on the sensor data and estimates an amount of damage to the portion of the property based on the mechanical force data. In some aspects, an insurance provider can use the estimated amount of damage to perform insurance coverage functionalities, estimate damage to additional properties, maintain a damage history for the property, and notify customers of suggested improvements to the property.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 2017Date of Patent: February 25, 2020Assignee: STATE FARM MUTUAL AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE COMPANYInventors: Michael K. Patent number: 10339604Abstract: Methods and systems for modifying resources equipped to manage loss events and processing associated therewith based on an analysis of real-time data. An insurance provider can maintain historical data that indicates resources usage data for managing previously-occurring loss events. The insurance provider can receive real-time first-party and third-party loss event data from a variety of sources, the loss event data being associated with a recent or forecasted loss event. The insurance provider can compare the received loss event data to the historical data to determine that resources configured to manage insurance claim processing resulting from the loss event may need to be modified. In embodiments, the resources may be hardware or software resources, a workforce, physical goods or supplies, or other resources. The insurance provider can facilitate the appropriate resource modification by interfacing with various components and entities.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 2016Date of Patent: July 2, 2019Assignee: STATE FARM MUTUAL AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE COMPANYInventor: Michael K. Patent number: 10089691Abstract: Methods and systems for detecting inaccurate insurance claims associated with a loss event are provided. An insurance provider may receive loss event data associated with the loss event from a variety of sources. The insurance provider may also receive an insurance claim submission from the claimant customer that indicates an insured property and a claimed amount of damage to the insured property. The insurance provider examines the loss event data to estimate an actual amount of damage experienced by the property as a result of the loss event, and compares the actual amount of damage to the claimed amount of damage. Based on the comparison, the insurance provider may approve the insurance claim, deny the insurance claim, or flag the insurance claim. The systems and methods thus aim to reduce fraudulent or otherwise inaccurate insurance claim filings.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2013Date of Patent: October 2, 2018Assignee: STATE FARM MUTUAL AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE COMPANYInventor: Michael K. Patent number: 8930581Abstract: Methods and systems for processing business operations transactions and associated augmented customer data using a Web-Scale Data Fabric (WSDF). According to embodiments, a plurality of computer servers are configured for economical large scale computation and data storage with resilience despite underpinning commodity hardware failure and grow-shrink capacity changes of nodes and associated interconnectivity. The servers communicate with direct attached storage (DAS) and include a co-processor coupled for computation capacity. The servers can connect to an external computer network (ECN) for external client input and output, as well as other functionalities such as physical-to-virtual network connectivity mapping and maintaining resilient storage of data received from the ECN or computationally derived from the received data.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 2014Date of Patent: January 6, 2015Assignee: State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance CompanyInventors: Alex Anton, Tim G. Publication number: 20140278573Abstract: Methods and systems for pre-filling insurance forms for customers are provided. An insurance provider or other similar entity can receive loss event data associated with a certain loss event that could trigger customers submitting insurance claims. By examining the loss event data and associated customer and insurance policy data, the insurance provider can identify customers who may have experienced damage to property and therefore may be eligible to submit a claim for the damage. According to embodiments, the insurance provider can generate pre-filled forms using at least some of the loss event data and send the pre-filled forms to the potentially eligible customers. The customers can modify the pre-filled forms where necessary and submit insurance claims based on the pre-filled forms for processing by the insurance provider.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 4, 2013Publication date: September 18, 2014Applicant: STATE FARM MUTUAL AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE COMPANYInventor: Michael K.
