  • Publication number: 20090152873
Abstract: A method of generating power uses a nanoenergetic material. The nanoenergetic material comprising thermite is obtained and deposited on a substrate. An igniter is placed on the nanoenergetic material. When power is desired, the nanoenergetic material is ignited. A transducer receives thermal, sonic, magnetic, optic and/or mechanical energy from combustion of the nanoenergetic material and converts it into electrical energy. Preferably, the transducer is a thermoelectric, piezoelectric or magneto device. Preferably, multiple transducers are integrated in one power generators to maximize the power from nanoenergetic thermites.

  • Patent number: 7275387
Abstract: An ice cube-making machine that is characterized by noiseless operation at the location where ice cubes are dispensed and be lightweight packages for ease of installation. The ice cube-making machine has an evaporator package, a separate compressor package and a separate condenser package. Each of these packages has a weight that can generally by handled by one or two installers for ease of installation. The noisy compressor and condenser packages can be located remotely of the evaporator package. The maximum height distance between the evaporator package and the condenser package is greatly enhanced by the three package system. A pressure regulator operates during a harvest cycle to limit flow of refrigerant leaving the evaporator, thereby increasing pressure and temperature of the refrigerant in the evaporator and assisting in defrost thereof. The evaporator can be integrated with a beverage dispenser and an ice dispenser.

  • Publication number: 20070150174
Abstract: The present disclosure provides an on-board navigation system for a commuter vehicle that automatically saves in a database addresses corresponding to destinations to which the vehicle has traveled, along with one or more parameters relating to the addresses. The navigation system uses these parameters to predict a destination by comparing the present state of the vehicle to the saved parameters. The navigation system can present the user with a prioritized list of addresses based on the predicted and prompt the user to select a destination from list. Thus a user can conveniently inform the navigation system of an intended destination. The navigation system can automatically determine a route to the destination based on present traffic conditions, and may have the ancillary benefit of informing the user of traffic conditions, or directing the user around such traffic conditions, even if the user was not otherwise interested in receiving a route.

  • Patent number: 6893395
Abstract: A method and apparatus for data transmission between an electromedical implant having a first transmitter/receiver unit, such as a cardiological implant, and an associated external apparatus having a second transmitter/receiver unit. Data transmission begins with a triggering signal which is sent by the first transmitter/receiver unit in normal operation in predeterminable first intervals. Reception readiness of the first transmitter/receiver unit is maintained after emission of the triggering signal for a second time interval which is shorter than the first time interval.

  • Patent number: 6632599
Abstract: The present invention relates to procedures for the detection or for the determination of solid phase-associated factors, which are multiply associated with the same solid phase. According to the invention, the sample is brought into contact with a transmitter particle, on which at least one ligand having binding affinity for a solid phase-associated factor and a transmitter are immobilized, and a receiver particle, on which at least one ligand having binding affinity for said solid phase-associated factor and a receiver is immobilized, and then the signal is determined which results when transmitter and receiver are brought sufficiently close to one another. In particular, the invention relates to the detection of cell surface receptors which can be used for the typing of cells or for the determination of cell activation states. It is thus possible to replace the hitherto widely customary flow cytometry by a more simple procedure.

  • Patent number: 6622043
Abstract: A method of after-care in relation to patients with at least one electromedical implant. Data is transmitted from the implant to an external apparatus providing information for an examining clinician on the occasion of an after-care examination of the patient in an after-care arrangement. In an after-care interrogation up-to-date available data of the implant are interrogated and sent for output to corresponding output means, the data interrogation operation being effected prior to the after-care examination automatically after the patient enters an interrogation region of the after-care arrangement.
